David Williams has become perhaps the personification of the versatile musician of our time, his inimitable tenor voice and unique personality touches audiences throughout the world. His impact on music over the past few years has been profound, broadening the horizons of classical, gospel, R&B, and jazz music, bringing millions of new fans to his art, through his many appearances not only on the greatest international and concert stages, but also on television, in musical theatre and in arena concerts. Adding to the luster of his fame David Williams was invited to join the international sensation, “The Glory Gospel Singers†as tour director in which he is receiving rave reviews all across the globe!
David was born in Portsmouth, VA, on October 14, 1975, the second son of 2 wonderful parents. As a boy, the arts occupied much of his time. In fact, he earned his first local fame as a member of Junior National Honor Society, later to be accepted into the Govenors Magnet School of The Arts excelling in public speaking was a passion of David’s in which he still loves today. He first sang in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at the age of 5, a fervent lover of opera and gospel music. From the moment he sung his first solo, the youngster was hooked.
His debut came on January 1995 when David started a choir at Oakwood College. After graduating and becoming one of Oakwood’s most noted singer’s successes led to engagements throughout the world, where he conquered audiences in Amsterdam,Italy, France,Switzerland and Germany just to name a few. His theatrical debut came in Huntsville, Al were he had a lead role in James Welden Johnson's Amen Corner the beginning of what would open doors for many theatrical productions for David including a role in Danna Hubbard's Every Dog Has His Day New York, NY the role of Daddy Moses in Tarrence Afer-Anderson’s riveting musical “Hiram & Nettieâ€. Debuts in Virginia, Washington DC, New York & Las Vegas made him one of the most promising and saut? out tenors of today.
In concerts throughout the world audiences respond to David’s arias, soul stirring gospel songs, his renditions of such greats as “My Funny Valentine†, “Ava Maria†and The Lords Prayer sends the audience erupting in a frenzied ovation, and the young tenor’s reputation soaring beyond the confines of gospel, opera, & Jazz.
David is also dedicated to the development of the careers of young singers, and conducts standing-room-only master classes at conservatories around the world. Having sung backup for some of the world’s greatest gospel, classical and R & B musicians, and opening for artist around the world.
