MARQUEZ!

About Me

DIGITAL ALBUM HERE!!
Marquez! is a musical collaboration between vocalist Jared Armijo-Wardle and multi-instrumentalist Paolo Cesar Zuñiga. What started out as late night rum infused talks about rock en español, unsatisfying american indie rock, and their need for new challenges, quickly transformed into a period of productivity that churned out nearly 20 songs. It proved difficult, however, for the duo to find musicians willing to embrace the genre mixing elements of rock en español, the experimental ambiance of poetic vocal melodies and the melancholic textures of Mexican folk ballads. The search ended in the fall of 2008 when friends and former bandmates, Collin Tuthill (drums), Chad Tuthill (bass), and Edgar Alminar (keys and saxophone), were up for the challenge of creating a new sound. With Luis Lopez (percussion) joining shortly after, the band began rehearsals and booked a few live shows in a preliminary attempt to try out some of the new song arrangements. After months of experimentation, the band retired into their home studio and began recording their album. Engineered by Chad and Paolo, the songs took on a new life with an emphasis on organic textures, percussion, vocal melodies, and sound manipulation. In September of 2009 the album was completed and was named The Passing.
