Sonic Oblivion..s Release/Bio

Daniel E. Wetzlar, 26, born in Munich, South Germany, moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil while still very young (2 yrs. old) with his father. Growing up in this amazing tropical country, Daniel made the smart choice of naturalizing himself also as a Brazilian, acquiring a double-nationality.

Daniel E. has a long time relationship, a strong affection with both music & technology. Since very young, he was very fascinated with the lightning-fast evolution of the technology over the last decade, when there was a really amazing advance in digital technologies, related to the quick evolution of personal computers and their processing power, and consequently their professional applications in basically all stages of audio production (pre-production, post processing and effects processing, editing, mixing, mastering, etc. practically everything was now possible in the digital environment; now, it..s possible to leave a lot of expensive hardware and studio gear behind, and achieve pretty much the same results just with a good computer, and a little studio gear (which is now much more accessible, less expensive, etc than it was a few years back by the way...) this new world of possibilities fascinated him since the early days, and this technology was evolving so fast it was almost reaching as far as the creative mind could go ... it was just a matter of time until the music and technology worlds would collide and unite in an unreversable way in his life!

Music was an early passion and addiction to Daniel E. At 12 he started to get interested in percussion, and started to practicing playing drums at home, with a small acoustic battery kit that he bought as his first instrument, making a lot of noise and bothering the neighbors at random times of the day and night and thats where it all started! (this old habit still lives with him today and there are much higher sound pressure levels involved now :) after playing the drums in a few experimental bands for a while, he got bored and also experienced for a while playing with keyboards, and for that studied little bits of basic music theory, that was a sort of transition between playing purely acoustic music to playing some electronic sounds. At around 15, In the many comings and goings between Brazil and Germany, he was introduced to the amazing world of electronic music back in the late 90s, when he started going out for local clubs and some warehouse parties, at that time different styles influenced Daniel E., but always in the domain of electronic music: techno, house, and all it..s sub-genres, etc. played a part in the influence, but specially the uplifting & progressive club trance sounds, influenced him so much, with it..s endless layers of melodies and complexity, he was definately hooked up forever. Having the chance to explore the local nightlife, and electronic music scenes, both in his hometown in Germany and surroundings, and in Rio, it was a very enlightening experience that would change his life forever.

Later, while visiting parents at his hometown, looking for parties and events at the South of Germany in the summer of 2001 Daniel E. suddenly found a HUGE, and still growing, evolving trance scene going on nearby his hometown, with lots of outdoor parties going on at the very south extreme of Germany and also at northern switzerland, which was not very far away. He gathered a few friends and went out for his first open air party, to get in contact with a combination of nature and the most advanced electronic sounds at the time, for the very first time. He was about to find out that it would change his life for good. He was instantly puzzled, amazed and mind-blasted with that new energetic, powerful, twisted, explosive sounds that he never heard before... the energy of the party, the people, and the magic connection between nature + the music was like a life-changing experience...

the epic classic goa trance sound from the 90s (the beginning of it all!) shared space with the new, explosive, high tech powerful fullon psychedelic trance sound, and with the progressive & uplifting trance, everything together, and that showed clearly how things were changing fast over the last few years... all this was new to Daniel E. and he instantly fell in love with it, and there was no turning back. He was deeply addicted to those advanced sounds that would later start shaping the future of TRANCE.

After discovering a lot of killer projects and their live acts, and the mind-blowing DJ sets from so many good DJs for a while, Daniel E. started to get really interested in going a little deeper into that music that fascinated him so much, and started to study the art of DJ mixing. he had just a good computer, a decent audio interface with multiple outputs (so a cue mix signal could be addressed to the headphones, and a separate mix could be addressed to the master outs), and a good soundsystem at the time, but no DJ equipment to practice, but that was just about what he needed when he discovered that at the time a few windows software apps. would allow him to load 2 audio files on 2 virtual decks that had adjustable pitch, and could play them both in real time, making possible to beat-match the 2 tracks, everything virtually. considering it was back in around yr. 2001 it was something new, a revolution... it was also possible to record and edit the set afterwards.... that was amazing, and it became the initial platform where Daniel E. started to make some experimental sets and after a while, started to develop his own mixing technique. when he had some spare $, he bought a pair of CDJs and a mixer and started to play at home and at some local parties, but he always felt like he wanted to be able to go further, and deeper into the music, being able to SHAPE IT.

It didn´t take long until Daniel E. started to dream about making his own music. In 2005, he started a music production technology graduation course in a local university, and after graduating in the year 2008, he now plans to get deeper into electronic music production, audio engineering and recording arts at SAE (School of Audio Engineering) in London, UK , early in 2010.The dream of making his own music started to become solid reality at the end of 2008, when he started to gather some studio gear to build a small home-studio, and fired up the SONIC OBLIVION project, it..s first complete full tracks are soon going to be available here. stay tune ;)
