About Me

Eric Hamell is a Jazz drummer living in Upstate New York. Eric started playing drums at the age of 5. Since then he has played on over 25 albums of various styles and has toured 35 States. He joined his first band in 1986 at 13 years old called "Bete Noire" playing rock drums. Joined and co-formed the band SHU in 1993 which is an improvisational rock band with heavy jazz and ska influences. Eric was also the drummer of Burlington VT's bluegrass/jam- jazz band "Smokin' Grass" for 2 years. Eric has performed and or recorded with many artists including Shu, Smokin’ Grass, Brian Patneaude Quartet, John Dworkin, Eric Kurimski, George Muscatello, Shanir Blumencrantz, Danny Zamir, Jon Cowherd, Andy Laverne, Dave Kain Group, Keith Pray, Jonathan Lorentz and Nat Reeves just name a few. Eric currently resides in Upstate New York and continues to explore Jazz and beyond with "Tony Jenkin's Jazz Trip" and most recently with the "Jonathan Lorentz Quartet" and "Mad-i".
