I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Elephant Sound is a new and different kind of recording company. Plain and simple.
Every couple months or so, there seems to be a new crop of people fresh out of a college recording program who can afford a computer that calls themselves a recording studio. All too often people make the mistake of equating gear with quality. If the stuff is expensive, your recording will turn out good. But this just isn't true. Without experience and a personal investment in the recording process, the best you can hope for are average-sounding recordings.
Here at Elephant Sound, we don't make average recordings.
There are several reasons why--first of all, we care. Plain and simple. We are a fairly new company and we value our client base immensely. Therefore, we will go out of our way to give you a product you will be proud to tell your friends about. Secondly, recording for us is more than a quick way to have fun and make money--we live recording. Our engineers have been fans of music all their lives and have spent many a night in a dark room with headphones on studying records or playing around with 4-track cassette recorders and trying to understand what separates a good sounding recording from a bad sounding record, and even an okay sounding record. And these years of study and experience has made us strong, and we are not afraid to show it.
That's not to say we don't have good gear (we do), or aren't professionally taught (we are), but we understand what many people don't. There's more to it than that. And that's the key.
Elephant Sound is an on-location recording company, meaning we come to you, in your space, on your terms. We have methods of making your practice room or rehearsal space sound nice, and making your instruments stand out. If you are a musician or band looking to cut a demo, EP, or even a full length record, Elephant Sound could be the choice for you. Read below for more information.
...are very affordable, and we are very flexible. We want to work with artists of all types and help them meet their artistic goals. No hassle. No fuss. Just high quality, low cost recordings in your space, on your own time.
...include local artists from all different types of genres – from rock to hip hop, indie, hardcore, punk and more. We are equipped with both the gear and the musical knowledge to record any style of music, from solo folk artists to large ensemble classical groups. Our engineers have the knowledge and understanding to facilitate any musical project regardless of genre.
...is encompassed by what we lovingly refer to as S.P.A.R.K.Y. -- the Sonic Processing and Recording Klarity Yoonit. S.P.A.R.K.Y. is a self-designed and handwired interface consisting of mic preamps, inputs, digital converters and more, all wired together through a patch bay. It allows us to essentially carry around a recording studio in a box, and it makes our traveling studio possible.
We use both Presonus Firepod and MOTU MkII828 24 bit digital interfaces. We use a wide variety of microphones, including Audix drum mics, the AKG D-112, the Neumann TLM 103, the AT 3035, and a slew of other mics to give a distinctive, varied recording sound.
For analog recording enthusiasts, we also offer two-track recording straight to tape via a 1/4" reel-to-reel professional tape deck (TEAC model 4010s). This can also be used on pre-recorded tracks to provide extra warmth and tape compression.
We do not have any specials or deals currently running. Check back often, or be on the lookout for blogs or bulletins advertising new specials.

"Working with Blake at Elephant Sound was a great experience. Prompt, professional, personal, and a great dude to boot. He was nice enough to not even mind recording at 2 locations in one day! Project came out great and I would recommend [them] to anyone... definitely the first call I'll make next time I need to record!"
Rory Ketchum - Multi-instrumentalist
"Only one word comes to mind when it comes to Elephant Sound...professionalism. Not only was it a fun experience...but the final product far exceeded my expectations..."
