About Me
Leaving the Ozone is the meeting between Australian singer Dannielle Gaha and French composer Christophe Jacquelin. The lyrics were written by Claudia Phillips, the American singer with whom Christophe worked on a previous album entitled “Personal Legendsâ€.This exciting new album, “Lovers and Tearsâ€, reveals the artistic maturity of these three artists who brought their talents together to create a serene listening experience. The project was written, composed, produced and sung with the goal of inviting the audience to travel to territories as yet unexplored. Songs like “Still Be Blueâ€, “Love Underwater†and “Even When You Cry†take us under the sea with soaring strings; “Joan and John†and “Not What You Intend†question the passage of time, and the cover of “Mercy Street†(Peter Gabriel) is quite simply stupendous.Dannielle Gaha is the daughter of a dancer and a drummer. She began performing in Sydney at a very young age; as a child she played the role of Pepper in the hit musical “Annieâ€. After many solo performances on Australian television variety shows in the ‘80s, (including “The Two Ronniesâ€), she joined rocker Glenn Shorrock in his solo performances.
Later recording in London, Dannielle was the first Australian to break into the UK soul chart with the release of three singles: “Do It For Loveâ€, “Stuck In The Middle†and “Secret Loveâ€; all of which reached Top 10 and Top 50 in UK pop and dance charts.
While in London, Dannielle featured on the Michael Ball Show, providing backing vocals for the likes of Joe Cocker, Tom Jones and James Brown. Dannielle has also lent her voice to recordings by Sting, Kylie Minogue, Marcia Hines, Eran James, Guy Sebastian, Darren Percival, Glen Shorrock, Rozalla, Gerry DeVaux and The Pet Shop Boys.
Committed to the development of new talent, Dannielle is on the board of the Glenn Shorrock Music Scholarship Award, held annually for talented young Australian singers, songwriters and musicians.Christophe Jacquelin founded his first group when he was 15 years old, highly inspired by artists such as Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant and Peter Gabriel.
For more than 30 years he has been composing and producing records, as well as music for films, documentaries and video games in his fabulous studio located in Grenoble, France. Christophe possesses a great capacity for evoking images through sound. His compositions envelop the voice, treating it as a solo instrument, an integral part of the harmony. The overall effect resembles classical composition, mixed with modern electronic sounds. Three of his symphonic records composed for the films “Ocean Wonderlandâ€, “Sharks†and “Dolphins and Whales†(with over 10 million viewers throughout the world!) can be found on cdbaby’s website.Originally from California, Claudia Phillips is a self-taught singer/songwriter who began her professional experience with her father, (improvised music bassist Barre Phillips), with whom she toured extensively throughout Europe and recorded an album for the German label ECM. She continued her career in popular music; her single “Quel Souci La Boetie†shot up the charts in 1989 and she followed with two albums (“Blackjack†and “Rendez-Vousâ€) on the Barclay label, and one (“Personal Legendsâ€) with the independent label M10.
Today Claudia consecrates the majority of her time training others. She has been teaching at the Studio des Variétés in Paris since 1995, where she coaches signed artists on vocals, studio work and performance. She also trains singing teachers at the Studio and throughout France, is a member of various juries for French state music teacher diplomas and president of the French Association of Singing Teachers (AFPC). She continues to write lyrics for others (Leaving the Ozone, Readymade FC, David Walters...) and lends her voice to various projects (Spoke Orkestra, Ez3kiel, Oshen, Marine Bercot...), always searching for new ways to explore her eclectic background and creativity./////////////////////////////////////////////////

Much love and sunshine. ////////////////////Christophe Jacquelin would like to thank:Bruno, Chavdar, Djazia, Fabrice, François, Gevin, Jean-Jacques, Loul, Margarita, Patrick and Pierre-Alain (Yo).
These songs would only be vibrations in the air without the beautiful lyrics of lovely Claudia (thanks for being there for such a long time), and the marvellous voice and soul of wonderful Dannielle (I’m so happy to have met you .... can’t wait for next timeJ).
Huge kisses to Brigitte, Florent and Laure.
Much love and peace. /////////////////////////////////////////////////The cover of “Mercy Street†(Peter Gabriel) isn’t a homage- I don’t pretend to be worthy of such an honor. This song has accompanied me for as long as I can remember and I simply wanted to offer it to the one to whom I owe the choice of dedicating my life to music.
