I read that phrase at the National College of Art and Design's Open Day and it really inspired me to take the leap of faith - to go and do what I enjoyed doing, to believe that anything might be possible. I went back to college as a mature student and studied Model-Making and Design at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (What a great course! puppet making, life drawing, mechanics, moulding, casting and then some) After working on various model making jobs for a few years I fell into film making when I came to Cork. The Cork Film Centre gave me the opportunity to make a stop motion animation, "The Demon Within" .It took a year and help from some great people - Stephen O'Connell, Barry Fitzgerald, Daragh O'Connor and Mick McDonnell- to name a few. I was hooked. I received commissions for more works and set up my company Paper Plane Creations and since then have been working primarily as a writer / director/ animator. The thing that I like most about film-making is the opportunity it gives one to work with the most amazing and talented people from a range of different disciplines.
