At the age of 6 , Jordan Hood knew what he wanted to be when he grew up. When a group of Little Rock school children were asked their future plans, a young Jordan Hood promptly announced that he wanted to be a rapper. At the time, his parents thought this was just a whimsical outburst of a child trying to get attention. They were mistaken. For the next 12 years, they watched their son develop from a small child with a dream to young man on a major mission to succeed. Jordan aka Jay Hood continued on his music quest by studying Hip Hop music, specifically rap, to learn as much as he could about an art form that intrigued him. After watching his cousin and mentor, Kevin Cottrell, develop into one of the most popular producers in the Little Rock music scene known as K.E.V., Jordan began his professional training as a music producer.Music production consumed his time, but his desire to stand on stage in front of a microphone was beckoning him. As he watched the current music trends, Jordan Hood the producer decided it was time to introduce to the world to Jay Hood the rapper. To effectively make his entrance into the already crowded Little Rock rap scene, Jay would need a record that would stand out and capture the majority teen audience of Little Rock. He knew dance records were popular and set out to create just that record with the right sound. From this thought, the Hopscotch was born.Do the Hopscotch Do the Hopscotch To the front, to side, to the back Let’s rideThis infectious hook became popular in the streets among local teens. When Jay performed in front of his classmates at Little Rock Central High’s Tigerfest it was an instant hit. From that performance, he was invited to perform on a taping of MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 television show. His album is slated for a Fall 2007 release as he enters college at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as a member of the drum line of UAPB’s band and a student of Sound Recording Technology.
