My name is Jori Edmett. I recently lost my fiance' Scott Marsters to an accidental prescription drug overdose on April 22, 2007. During my research to see why it is so easy for people to get their hands on prescription drugs, and how addictions affect peoples lives I came across the page of a woman named Dottie Whitaker. Dottie created a campaign in honor of daughter Tammie M. Armato who was also lost to a prescrition drug overdose on September 14, 2005.
After SCOTT had passed his mother Tami Davis, and I were trying to think of a way to get a bill passed for doctors and pharmacies to have a monitoring program in their computers to cut the number of losses due to overdoses. On our search to begin that, we came to find that Dottie Whitaker has already had this in the making and is doing a wonderful job, and im sure saving lives already. A bill has just been passed in the state of Nevada thanks to Dottie, and now she wants to take it nationwide.
Tami and I want to help, which is why I made this myspace. In order to get anything passed we need a lot of signatures on the petition, which can all be done online, and for anyone who wants to share their stories of someone they have lost to an addiction of any kind and help keep their names alive. Don't just talk about, and read about addiction...help
