Nathan Stoops is a fiddle player with the energy of a Rock Star combined with the finesse of a classically trained musician.
He began his music instruction at the young age of 7, and has never looked back. Throughout High School, Nathan honed his craft and pursued his dream of becoming a professional musician by studying with various professional violin instructors. Classical training came from a member of the Chicago Symphony, along with collegiate training at Hillsdale College and the Cincinnati Conservatory. Fiddle instruction came from a naturally gifted ear for improv combined with years of playing country, Christian, and blues with various artists.
Nathan landed his first gig with a pro orchestra at the age of 21, but realized that it was not the direction he wanted to go with his career. He moved to Nashville in 2007 and quickly became known as a very high energy performer with great chops, positive attitude, and a winning personality.
In 2008 Nathan performed over 150 shows through national and international touring. In late summer, he joined the John Karl band and spent several months performing as the house act for the world famous Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. The biggest highlight of the year however was a 10 day tour of Kuwait and Iraq with country superstar Aaron Tippin. This incredible opportunity allowed Nathan to give back to the troops and see how military operations are progressing in that part of the world. Being able to spend Thanksgiving day in Baghdad with Aaron and the crew was an incredible experience!
As a songwriter, Nathan has had the privilege of collaborating with some of Nashville’s best writers. 2009 will showcase his writing talents more prominently as he works with a new band project called “Calico Trailâ€. More information will be available about that project soon!
As well as performing, Nathan has taught the violin or fiddle for several years and currently has a few students that he teaches on a weekly basis.
Although he keeps a busy schedule teaching private lessons and performing in and out of Nashville, Nathan would love to hear from you if you have a showcase, session, or tour planned for '09. Need more than just a fiddle player for your band? Nathan is also an accomplished harmony vocalist, and can provide utility services on acoustic guitar and mandolin.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you soon at a show!!
