Hi, I'm taking the myspace plunge! Here goes... I'm 49 as of 7/7/07 and born in Philly.
Been living in the Portland Maine area for over thirty years now with a few breaks in
London,England where I lived in the late eighties. I still visit on a regular basis because
I have two wonderful daughters and some great friends who live there!
I come from a very musical family, my maternal grandma was a N.E.C. grad in piano
and paternal grandpa was a self-taught cellist who worked all over europe and played
under many of the major conductors of his day in the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
For me all this music is embedded in my genetic code I think. I've always found it
natural to sing harmony, from childhood church choirs to school chorus to my first rock
band at 17.( I was the lead singer in that one 'cause nobody else could sing).Started
playing guitars at 13 and continued because it seemed to appeal to girls at parties!
Not until much later did I realize that I was too busy playing to focus on the girls, who's
attention was quickly usurped by non-playing boys.
In my early twenties I was just too busy partying to concentrate on music, but one
notable exeption was my great mentor Roger C. Avery who happened to live downstairs in my building in Portland. I was walking by his ground floor open window and heard this amazing finger style guitar coming out. I wangled an intro to this hermit from the
building gossip Vikki Flannigan, and the rest is roots music history. In the late '90s I
founded the "Track Farm" recording studio in my barn in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with
Matt Robbins of "King Memphis". The paint was still wet when our first client, the late,
great rockabilly legend Ronnie Dawson rolled up the driveway. He recorded his last
album "More Bad Habits" and started a string of great roots productions with Sean Mencher and Matt Robbins that include "The Twilight Ranchers", "The Raging Teens",
"The Bourbonaires", "King Memphis" and Jesse Lee Miller. The Track Farm is now
upgraded and ready to move into the roots music future!
