First, they are individual writers, songwriters and musicians. They hail literally from one end of Kentucky to the other. They each have their individual accomplishments and they are all fans of each other's work. Then, they are The Cosmic Mamaws (Jessie Lynne, Kate, Anne & George Ella) and The Doolittles (Jason & Silas) who play diverse styles of music for various and sundry circumstances. And, finally, they are Public Outcry when they join forces to educate people everywhere about the devastation that a vast, violent and vicious practice known as mountaintop removal mining is wreaking on their beloved Commonwealth. Their collective mission is to educate people inside and outside their home state about what is happening there - it's occuring right now and on a huge scale. They want citizens to be well enough informed to convince the government to enforce regulations to stop mountaintop removal immediately...or be replaced by representatives who will.Public Outcry's lively one-hour concerts seamlessly combine artistic genres by blending song, visual imagery and the spoken word. Their work is featured on SONGS FOR THE MOUNTAINTOP and in MISSING MOUNTAINS (CD and anthology, both sponsored by Kentuckians for the Commonwealth). Their voices have echoed in hollers, on college campuses and into the Capitol Rotunda itself, carrying the message from the highest peaks to the flattest river bottoms that mountaintop removal is everyone's problem because "we all live downstream."
