Every once in a while an exceptional young artist surfaces that seemingly has it all; a magical voice, the gift of melody and song, infectious charisma, unbridled passion, and a burning desire and love for music. One such artist, who possesses all of the above, is Australian songwriter/singer Katherine Tanner.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Katherine has been singing since childhood, and grew up listening and admiring musical icons such as, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Boyz 11 Men. By her mid to late teens, she had outclassed hundreds of her peers by winning coveted titles of a couple of the country’s largest and most prestigious talent competitions. One, hosted by Australia’s most popular radio stations, Mix 101.1, earned her the right to perform at a major concert event in New Zealand with such pop luminaries as Pink, Shaggy and Natalie Imbruglia. A few years later she managed to secure a live gig at the Budweiser Festival in Hiroshima, Japan, performing every night for three months.
While Katherine was cutting her teeth and honing every aspect of her artistry in her homeland, her ultimate dream was to launch her career in America. So Katherine did just that...she took a giant leap of faith, and with every penny of her savings, flew to the Big Apple. She arrived with a couple of bags, one filled with her belongings, and the other, over flowing with talent.
A few weeks after arriving in Gotham, she secured a veteran manager, Ramon Hervey 11 (Babyface, Vanessa Williams, Andrae Crouch and Little Richard) and began feverishly writing and recording material to solicit record labels. In between traveling back and forth from the U.S to Australia over the past year, she collaborated on three songs with Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer Barry Eastmond (Britney Spears, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston), New comer Vincent "V. Rich" Richardson, noted guitarist and songwriter, Tony Donelson and Dynamic New Jersey based Production tandem "The Goodfellaz" (Pav Bundy and his partner Aziz "Baby Mozart"). Katherine is currently readying her final demo package to pitch to labels later this summer.
Undeterred by the daunting task of launching her career far away from home, and brimming with self-confidence, Katherine knows her journey is just beginning, but says unabashedly, “Music is definitely in my blood, and I feel so very blessed that God gave me such a beautiful gift.â€
