Psalmist Sonya D. Johnson
Sonya is a member of a musical family, her brother is 2007 Stellar Award Winner Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson and her first cousin is Darrell McFadden (2007 Stellar Award Nominee) & The Disciples Presently, Sonya serves as a Psalmist and Worship Leader at the Concord Baptist Church of Christ in Brooklyn, New York. Although employed as an attorney at an international law firm, Sonya has consistently ministered through the medium of gospel music. She is a founder and former director of her high school gospel choir and a former director of her college gospel choir. Sonya is a graduate of New York Theological Seminary, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and Cornell University.

Worship from the Heart is a project that God placed in Sonya’s heart to encourage others in their worship of God as they experience the many vicissitudes of life, which include joy but also pain. Worship from the Heart includes twelve soulful praise and worship songs that are intended for the listener to sing along and become worship. It features a raise the roof duet with her brother, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson, “In Praise to You” as well as the soul-stirring worship ballad “We Yearn for Your Presence.” Worship from the Heart is a step in Sonya’s efforts to fulfill the divine purpose for her life, “to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord.”

As I start this day, I look toward the clouds and pray, God please use me for Your glory today.
Before I go any further, I pray Lord please forgive me and take my sins away. But let me first thank You for your faithfulness in keeping me through the night.
I also thank you for making even things that troubled me alright.
I thank You God for the brand new mercies of this day and pray, Lord let me see and realize all of the possibilities and opportunities that come my way this day.
As I start this day, I pray Lord help me to be content and enjoy the day for what it is – the present, a gift from You.  I commit the work of my mind and my hands to you.  I pray to be a doer of Your Word.
Lord, please enable me to lose the negative thoughts, the hurts, the pains, the tears of yesterday that may hinder Your work I me today.
Lord, I pray not only for myself but also for my sister and brothers both in the Lord and those who have not yet proclaimed you as the Lord of their lives.  I pray that they come into a real relationship with you and experience Your awesome power.
As I start this day, I pray Lord le me be the salt, a “God seasoning” in all environments that I encounter today. Please guide my mouth – let me speak words of life; Direct my thoughts –let me think thoughts of peace; Order my actions –let me fulfill Your divine purpose for my life
As I start this day, I lift my hand and pry, Lord use me for Your glory today! Amen.
