About Me

I tend to be pragmatic.
I tend to be loyal and helpful, previously this was to a fault. I'm now much more cautious and selective regarding these traits.
I'm not afraid to speak my mind, nor am I afraid to stand up for what I feel is right.
I'd sooner die alone than live a life with abusive, neglectful, or hostile people (Though it would appear that won't be an issue
What matters most:
Below would be my two most precious possessions:
The adorable boy is named Weechee. The girl he's perched upon doesn't have a name, but she kicks much ass.
Career:
I'm an Electrical Engineering PhD at Princeton University. My work involves the meshing of small-scale processors/computers with video and audio sources. These designs are both stationary and mobile, many times incorporating robotics. Research has taken me around the world. I've given oral presentations to audiences of thousands, several times in Japan, once in Europe, and all over the United States and Canada. I really couldn't ask for more out of my career, it's been hard work but I don't regret a bit of it! Below is a fairly up to date idea of where my work will next take me:
Research schedule: Title Date Location Transactions on VLSI March 30, 2008 NA Journal of Signal Processing Systems April 13, 2008 NA DAC 2008 June 8-13, 2008 Anaheim, CA ICME 2008 June 23-26, 2008 Hanover, Germany
ICSDC 2008 September 7-11, 2008 San Francisco, CA IROS 2008 September 22-26, 2008 Nice, France
My Modified Personage:
I dig on modification, however, I don't embrace any particular sect or online club. You won't find me on IAM or at any BME BBQs, not because I wouldn't be welcome (though I wouldn't be) but because that's just not me. I must admit I'm absolutely enamored with a certain IAM member and BME covergirl , however. I maintain a stance on modification based on pragmatism and individualism: I appreciate fine work by reasonable people. I don't join clubs to get work, nor do I kowtow to egocentric dolts, it *is* my body afterall. I remain relegated to those things I find aesthetically pleasing, mainly piercing, stretching, tattoos, and implant/invasive work (I hesitate to use the term surgical due to legalities and such).
Piercing/Procedural: work has been done on me by Jim Weber, Megg Mass, Jon Cobb (unfortunately), Tiffany Boggins, Mark Fillebrown, Luis Garcia, Kristin Hill, Jon Weir, and Kevin Jump
Implant/Invasive: work has been done on me by Steve Haworth , the only person I'd trust with such matters
Tattoo: work I intend on keeping (i.e. no plans for coverups) has been done on me by Chris Gamm of Under The Gun in Deptford, NJ and Trevor Marshall of Oceanic Tatau in Seabrook, NH. Both are real artists, not egocentric Xerox machines with tattoo guns. That is all.
Little Bear MP3 Player of Joy:

My Interests

Martial arts, Cycling, Hiking, Kickboxing, Fitness conditioning, Running short distances, Air Hockey (If you think it's not physically demanding try playing me sometime)
Reading poetry, fiction, and research literature, Writing mediocre poetry, fairly decent prose, and superb technical papers, Science, Research, Electronics, Unique HCI video games
Transcendence, Resistance, Tenacity, Clarity, Stability, Self-reliance, Self-improvement, Rising to challenges, Feeling appreciated
Opie and Anthony

I've met only one person through Myspace and it was less than fulfilling. *shrug*

Heroes:

Anyone placed on a pedestal will eventually fall to a point much lower than the base of said pedestal. I myself have fallen, and those I've placed above me have as well. As a result, I am of the belief that the only hero one need find is within oneself

Weechee seems to be acclimating to the new digs well. The other week while Claudia was dealing with Drexel, the little man and I found him a mommy-approved bed. He's poked around and such, sometimes h...

Word to the third

I just finished my initial listening of "Third" by Portishead. It’s consistent, possibly a bit too much so. No tracks really jump out at me the way they did on the first two albums (especia...
