Short presentation in English
The Tikozigalpa is an alternative and non-commercial project of culture and living. It’s in a beautiful old villa at the fringe of the old town of Wismar at the Baltic Sea.
It was founded in 1997. The house is owned by the association that consists mainly out of the people living in the house: Eleven people live here and are organizing together with people from outside the house a very diverse cultural program. Everybody is working voluntarily. There is a 35mm (and 16mm) cinema in the house for 70 spectators with a weekly program of cultural films. Often directors are invited and tours with them are organized through non-commerical cinemas. There’s a café and a hall for theatre plays, readings, lectures, worshops, political events, live concerts, exhibitions, summer academies, big dinners and parties. Various groups use it as their meeting place. There are several worksshops, a foto laboratory and a garden in and around the villa. There are cooperations with several organizations from different countries.
Bands from Australia, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland, United States played here.
We would like to invite you to come along and see.
