About Me

This myspace page is a request for ANONYMOUS contributions that will really help other people in the GLBTQ community. If you put your name or other people's names in your contribution, I will change them. This is for your safety. So please either avoid use of names, or let me know that you used false names. PLEASE! :)If you do not wish to send a contribution using your myspace profile, you can email my yahoo account, set up for this purpose, at [email protected] have worked as a victim's advocate at a domestic violence prevention project for six years. In those years, I have been frustrated by the lack of a brief, practical, helpful book-resource that could be handed out to GLBTQ folks who are unsafe in their homes and their lives due to intimate partner violence. The book will contain the elements that similar books already have available for heterosexual victims of abuse: national and international web/book/hotline resources, educational information about intimate partner violence, how to be an ally for a friend who is in an abusive relationship, and a chapter on forming your personalized safety plan. The thing that gives these sorts of books a really personalized and helpful touch is some anonymous, personal stories from folks who have experienced intimate partner abuse. With these contributions, a mere book can become a "support group in a binding" that folks can read if there are few other supports in their geographic location. This myspace page is here in order to give folks an opportunity to make these anonymous contributions. No more than a page or two would be great. Giving me more is fine, but I will probably only use shorter quoted segments in the text. You can email me these contributions by messaging me. If you wish to share them on myspace, you may post them as comments. All comments will be moderated by me before they appear so that the site will remain a healthy and supportive place.Contributions are needed from folks who self-identify as Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning. If you lived through an abusive relationship and you now feel okay about sharing some ANONYMOUS experiences, we need these types of things:How your partner used power and control to keep you compliant and in the relationship: Power and Control includes Verbal, Emotional, Physical, Sexual, and Economic abuse. For the GLBTQ community, threats to out the victim partner can be a factor. Stereotypes about what it means to be man/woman/butch/femme can be manipulated by the abuser in order to justify abuse. Extreme jealousy can be used to isolate the victim from family, friends, the rest of the GLBTQ community, and helping agencies. These are just a few examples. If you can bring your personal stories about how this stuff really happens in GLBTQ relationships, it will help other people and bring the information to life.We also need helpful information about how you plan/planned for your safety while being targeted by an abusive partner or ex-partner. These "tips" can really improve the safety of the folks who read the book. Thanks so very much. When the book is published in whatever form that happens, I will post that information on this page. A thousand-fold blessings to everyone. Take care of yourselves out there and I wish you all great, healthy relationships!;; myspace layouts for Get this layout for your myspace page.
