New Brew: The Sound That Rocks Yours Stash
The wait is over. Critically acclaimed trash rock band Mama Brew is finally coming forth with their debut album. The disc, entitled "The Sound that Rocks your Stash," is being released June 1st through Philadelphia indie label Father Devine Records. It will be available online and in record stores nationwide, with a limited edition double vinyl release being sold exclusively at KFC-Taco Bell locations.Since the band's formation in 1992, fans of the brew have been dieing to own a physical copy of the band's sound- literally. In 2003, a homeless man threw himself in front of a Philadelphia city bus in protest of the brew refusing to release an album. Bassist Sandy Swaggers, who is also Chairman of Father Devine Records, says that he couldn't give a shit, "I don't give a shit about some homeless scumbag goin' bus divin' cause we won't release no record. Shit, we was gonna release a surprise album in 2003 but when 'dat dude did dat- I wasn't gonna make it look like he died for a good reason. We purposefully waited 5 more years cause of dirt like him."
The disc starts off with "Trash Rock," a glorious ode to the filth all around us- and keeps on rockin' right through the tear jerking closer "Girard Ave." Other highlights include "Dirt Cuntry" and "I Killed a Deer for a Beer" both inspired by frontman Liquid Glenn's harsh upbringing in Nematode, Kentucky. "Ya'll dem girlies been axin me about if I really ever did kill dat deer for a beer," proclaims Liquid Glenn through nips from his cans of Skoal and Old Milwaukee. "Dat story be as true as any story in any Mama Brew song! A big ol' 12 pointer came right at me'n tried to take my brewskies, so I did what any good ol' boy'a done. I ripped out that fucker's throat, drank his blood and BBQed his insides. And you can print that!"
The band is in good spirits now that their sound can be heard by those unfortunate enough to have never seen the brew live. While on their promotional tour with stops across the greater Midwest, the band has been doing live gigs and signing autographs at thousands of KFC-Taco Bells. This provided guitarist Cornelius "Scarf" de Groot a chance to meet his idol- Colonial Sanders. "It was the moment of a life time!!!" exalted a teary-eyed de Groot, "He came right up to me and shook my hand, and he smelled like chicken just like I always knew he would! Oh man, this is what it's all about. THIS is the very reason why millions of kids join bands- to meet their favorite fast food icons in person." Luckily, Cornelius was in the bathroom when a little kid pulled off the Sanders impersonator's beard. The devastation would have likely broken up the brew permanently.
Don't take this reporter's word for it- On June 1st: run, don't walk (and certainly don't dive in front of a city bus) to your nearest record store or fried chicken and Mexican combination fast food restaurant to buy "The Sound that Rocks your Stash." It's going to be the defining album of the "trash rock" movement and you don't want to tell your grandchildren that you were a pussy and never bought it.The Sound That Rocks Your Stash is Now Available on iTunes!
