Daze of Grace/ Sharon Routley

A little immature with lots of potential

About Me

I'm a poet, I'm a painter, I'm a midnight snacker/ I write my music in the sun....(to the tune of Steve Miller's song...)I love to play guitar and sing, I love to paint. I haven't mastered doing both at the same time, but it would be a cool feat...."Dazeofgrace"... a small group of musicians, usually 2 to 3, melding their instruments to try to create music that takes you away...the band consists of Sharon Routley, singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar and Jubal Routley, electric lead guitar. Playing live, we often add P.J. Stevenson on congas, which gives the music that cool, earthy vibe...I guess I would say it's kinda folk-rock, ethereal, spiritual type of music...One of my favorite reviews I once got on a song was "a little immature with lots of potential"....how could they know me that well? One of my favorite sayings has long been "True maturity is knowing when to be immature....." So if you see me trying to be too mature, remind me of what's written in the Good Book....."A child shall lead the way...." music website: www.dazeofgrace.com art website: www.sharonroutley.com

Band Members: Sharon Grace Routley vocals, acoustic guitar, Jubal Routley, electric guitar, P.J. Stevenson, djembe
Influences: The long, arduous road of life would have to have been my biggest influence....the things that life brings. Other artists that have inspired me: Bono and U2, Eva Cassidy, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Rich Mullins, Jars of Clay. Locally in the music scene, my biggest influences would have to be Jim Cameron, a very talented guy, and Doug Erickson, who's no longer here, but he's here in our hearts for sure... As far as visual arts, I was motivated to start painting after seeing a DVD of Joni Mitchell's where she showed a display of her paintings. I knew it was in me to paint, but I had only "painted in my head" up until that point....so, dozens of paintings later, i'm hooked...my paintings have found good homes across Western Canada, as well as 2 in India....
Sounds Like: According to quite a few people, I apparently sound a lot like Suzanne Vega...I can kinda see it. Also, a little like Shawn Colvin.

Locusts and Honey

Just had a thought that made me think, as all thoughts do...picture locusts, honey, a vast, lonely wilderness with scrubby little brush, and homely little huts with absolutely no luxury...Picture a di...
