STEVE BLEAS is a young man with a big future. Since his DJ debut as a fresh faced 17 year old at Fabric, Steve has come along in leaps and bounds, refining his craft aided through playing along side some of the biggest local and international names including the likes of Frankie Knuckles, Knee Deep in date and Jon Cutler.
How the time has flown. The years between 2001 - 2004 saw Steve experiment with the direction his music took dabbling in various forms of house to find a style which best compliments his personality. It was with this experimentation that Steve caught the eye of those in the industry and was able to land residencies at some of the biggest nights of the time. This experience plus his commitment to the craft is demonstrated in his unique style today.
2005 however was a landmark year and marked Steve’s emergence to the scene rising from just another name to someone who people stood up and took notice of. During this time he was able to obtaining billing alongside acts in Lee Cabrera, Alex Kidd, Tom Neville, Jeremy Healy plus also playing on many of the Future Entertainment bills alongside world renowned acts including Sasha, John Digweed, Nubreed, Pete Tong, Tiefschwarz and Benny Bennasi to name a few.
It was through this involvement in the scene that Steve was also able to secure gigs at venues interstate including Dragonfly (Sydney) and Elsewhere (Gold Coast) among others. Steve’s year undoubtedly however was capped off with his involvement in Australia’s biggest dance party Summadayze securing a closing set in the exclusive VIP area which was a fitting way to see in the New Year.
This momentum didn’t stop there with Steve involved in several pre Summafieldayze parties in Queensland and has acted in Steve securing residences at "onesixone", Alumbra, Q-Bar, TFU and Famous plus playing at Melbourne’s biggest one off gigs including Two Tribes, Slinky and Godskitchen. His involvement in the scene has additionally extended beyond the clubs and into the airwaves with his weekly Kiss FM radio show.
One would think Steve is content with this progress however 2006 also saw Steve move into studio production working alongside some of Melbourne’s most respected producers utilising this experience and knowledge (as well as his own) in the creation of music and live sets.
Steve therefore has already amassed an impressive resume and continues to impress with his unique perspective and infectious enthusiasm. With an expanding reputation and rapidly increasing fan base, Steve is definitely a bright star in Melbourne’s music scene.
