About Me

...Intruder Biography
Intruder is a tribute to Van Halen from '78 to '84, the David Lee Roth Years. Formed in 2007, Intruder hails from the streets of Los Angeles and has Invaded the LA tribute scene with the same W.D.F.A. attitude of early Van Halen. Intruder captures the excitement & energy of the late ‘70’s era when Van Halen exploded onto the music scene playing clubs to standing room only crowds on Hollywood’s World Famous Sunset Strip and the party that surrounded it.
Intruder has performed shows for Van Halen fans throughout Los Angeles & Orange County, CA. and has built a following that continues to grow not only locally but nationally from on-line exposure through the Intruder website myspace.com/intrudervhtribute.
Intruder is a band made up of Van Halen fans. The band feels that it is important to make clear that we do not think we are Van Halen in any way. We pay tribute to David Lee Roth, Edward Van Halen, Alex Van Halen & Michael Anthony our heroes then & now!
Lead singer Ernie Berru comes from a rock-n-roll family, growing up just outside of Pasadena CA, where Van Halen was formed. Inspired by Van Halen, Ernie would hang out in the garage playing instruments with his two older brothers who were both in bands and listened to stories being told of Van Halen’s infamous back-yard parties. Knowing all this happening just a few miles away in Pasadena made it seem not that far out of reach.
Ernie started out playing drums and after playing the Sunset Strip scene in the late ‘80’s, he joined Schleprock and in 1996 secured a record contract with Warner Bros. Records co writing the single "Suburbia" used in the movie "Trojan Wars". Then Touring Europe extensively with The Generators again co writing "City of Angels" used for Corona beer and TNT sports, also "30 seconds" used for The 2008 Grammy Awards show commercial.
Now as lead singer, Ernie has returned to what inspired him the most during those early garage days, the music, the parties, and the attitude of early Van Halen. Ernie brings his powerful vocal range and larger-than life presence to the stage to recreate the look, energy and excitement of a classic Van Halen performance as he pays tribute to David Lee Roth of one of rock-n-roll’s greatest frontmen.
Los Angeles musician and the band's founding member, guitarist Gary Wines started paying tribute to Van Halen as a kid by recreating Edward Van Halen’s iconic stripe patterns on his first guitar with nothing more than tape. It has since evolved into the creation of highly detailed replicas of Van Halen’s classic guitars which he plays on stage to recreate Edward Van Halen's early guitar sound 'the brown sound'.
As a self taught guitarist, Gary quickly wore out his Van Halen record collection trying to learn Edward Van Halen’s early guitar riffs. Looking to expand his knowledge beyond the Warner Bros. recordings, Gary spent countless hours watching and listening to live bootleg footage and over the years has acquired a vast knowledge of what makes up a live Van Halen performance.
Gary uses Edward Van Halen's legendary technique, tone, and style to not only play each riff and guitar solo accurately but to truly capture and bring to the stage the look, feel and energy of a classic Van Halen performance as he pays tribute to one of rocks greatest guitarist.
Drummer Joe Segovia makes up half of the bands rhythm section. After being denied the opportunity to play drums in the 4th grade by his parents because drums were “too loud”, Joe borrowed a drum kit in the summer of 1978 and practiced by playing Van Halen songs with his cousin.
Joe studied marching percussion from two of the most iconic technician/arrangers, Tom Float and Ralph Hardimon. Joe toured the US & Canada performing in Drum Corp and was a DCI finalist with the Santa Clara Vanguard, then went on to teach field percussion for the next 12 years until turning his focus to a full drum kit.
After spending some time playing in the LA club scene, Joe feels he has now come full circle recreating Alex Van Halen’s signature double bass sound that inspired him as a kid. Joe forms a solid foundation for the bands rhythm section and brings to the stage the raw energy and excitement of an early Van Halen performance as he pays tribute to Alex Van Halen.
Bass Player Anthony Arguijo makes up the second half of the bands rhythm section. Rock ‘n Roll music has been a part of Anthony’s life since starting out on guitar at the age of 10. Now paying tribute to Michael Anthony, he provides a solid foundation for the band that is full of thunderous energy.
In 1981 Anthony began to work as part of the touring company Graybar Industry’s and worked on several national touring projects as part of the road crew. Never giving up on his love of music, Anthony continued to hone his skills playing back-yard parties. In 2006, Anthony met Andrew Micheli, the founding member of the 70’s and 80’s rock group Roadwork. Inspired by Micheli, Anthony Began playing Bass and started rehearsing and performing with him throughout Riverside County. In 2008 Anthony co-formed the band Viva Halen, a tribute to Van Halen and performed shows in the Southern California area including the House of Blues and Opening up for Dave Meniketti and Y&T.
As an established bass player in the SoCal Tribute scene, Anthony brings with him the knowledge and experience he needs to capture the early Van Halen sound. Anthony plays each bass line accurately using Michael Anthony’s style and technique while locking in with the drums to form a solid rhythm section. Anthony brings to the stage the vocal range that enables him to provide Michael Anthony’s signature Van Halen backing vocals as he recreates the sound and energy of a classic Van Halen performance.
