mLife. Laughter. Love.

Almost everyone I meet tells me that they can't seem to "classify" me - and the more they get to know me, the harder even trying becomes. Currently in my life, I work full time and go to school full time. My day job is in finance (I work as an Executive Assistant), I'm aiming for a graduate degree in psychology, I work on music and theatrical arts (as much as I can), and I write. To say that I'm busy is an understatment. I prefer fulfilled.
Ambition fuels me, and focus is my life.
For fun, I own my own theatre company as my original passions lie in the arts. I am creative to a fault, and express the depths of my soul through my artistic work. I sing. I act. I direct. I write. These things are as theraputic as they are fun.
I have a head for business and a sharp intellect that has served me well. This surprises people, considering I am your (on the surface) charismatic party girl. My friends expect me to be the life of the party. It's a role I enjoy. I have boundless energy and a love of life that I wish more people could grasp on to. I can have fun anywhere, and doing anything. The company is really what matters.
I can be deep and serious, or I can be silly and eccentric.
I treasure my friendships above all else. The people in my life are real, grounded, supportive, and truly amazing individuals. We laugh. We play pranks. We dance on bars. We help each other. We cry. We learn. My life is enriched because of the people I am blessed to know.
I take pride in the fact that nobody can beat me at scrabble.
I love to explore the world and have the goal of exploring one new culture/country a year. I'm complex, and I revel in that. I'm spontaneous, yet scheduled. I flirt with trouble, yet I never get caught. I can talk my way out of anything. I am comfortable playing video games in sweats, and comfortable at a celebrity birthday bash. I love to party, and I don't go anywhere I'm not VIP. I love to spend Sundays in bed, at museums, or writing in the park. I love the atmosphere of a sports game, and revel in the magic of the opera. I will never get tired of exploring the city.
I think the best feeling in the world is wind in your hair.
I will drive two states away at one in the morning to get good New York pizza. I will go to a wine bar and pig out on pumpkin cheesecake in the middle of the night. I will run outside in a storm and twirl around in the rain. I seek adventure and stability and tend to make the most of each of life's moments. I find everything to be, at the very least, a learning experience.
My guilty pleasures include: staying in bed late on the weekends, super soft bedding and way too many pillows, open windows in the winter, sitting by a fire, conversations that enrich the soul, analyzation, writing music, chocolate, and post-orgasm highs.
People fascinate me. Music melts me. Life inspires me.
My philosophy on life: Live life in the moment. Live freely, without regret. Don’t dwell on the past but don’t obsess over planning your future either. Be present, be aware, be honest. Ambition is admirable. Knowledge and passion are everything in life. Strive for success and learn from your failures. Find happiness, and find it within yourself, always. Never, ever give up.
You scored as Samantha Jones. You're Samantha! Sexy, sleek and smooth, you never have trouble with men. You're strong personality draws people in until they never want to leave. You're a bold person who is not afraid to put themselves out in the world, and you'll do it anyway you can.

My Interests

People. Life. Friendship. Love.
I love exploring the amazing city that I live in. Art, museums, culture, shows, opera, long walks in the park, picnics, glittery sidewalks in midtown, the buzz in the air, eating at restaurants I can't afford, and soaking up the endless array of atmospheres available.
The beauty of nature. The feeling of grass or sand under your feet. Scenic views. Wind. The feeling you can only get from being outside at night. Stars, Sunsets, and the proper people to share them with.
Life-long friendships. Hours of intellectual conversation over a good wine. People. Observing the world, soaking in all that people have to offer. Finding the core of a person or situation. Depth. Discussion and Debate. Eyes that tell a story.
Self-Expression. Creativity. Inspiration. Men. Sex. The psychology of relationships.
Knowledge. Learning incessantly. The European Enlightenment, Philosophy, Neuropsychology, Social Psychology (really all kinds of psychology), Relgion.
Moments. Memories. Laughter. Dreams.
I read. I write. I tell stories. I crack jokes. I embrace whatever situation I find myself in and roll with it. I love to entertain, as well as be entertained. All genres that could be considered 'art'.Music. Jazz clubs. Anything VIP.
Finding tranquility.
Balance. Harmony. Hope.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone in "the business" - I never turn down an opportunity to make new contacts!
My intellectual and spiritual equal... someone who can stimulate my mind, my body, and my soul in equal measure. Someone complex, but not deliberately so. Someone honest and kind. Someone who can laugh at themselves as well as at the world, but who also possesses a level of depth. A romantic who does nice things because he wants to, not because he thinks its the "right" thing to do. Someone who cherishes life and its experiences.
New friends. People who don't take themselves to seriously. People who are kind, fun, open, and honest. People who know themselves, and who are REAL. People who can sit around a candlelit bar for hours waxing philosophic, and people who can run around playing hilarious pranks.
EOE. Liars and Fake people need not apply.
Oh.. and did I mention donors for my theatre company? ;)

Music:

Everything from prodigies like Mozart to classics like Frank Sinatra.
I think Jazz is the sexiest music there is. I love jazz clubs, I love the "underground" scene - at 2 am downtown. I used to play the saxophone.
Classical music affects the very depths of one's emotional core. The opera feels like falling in love; you can't help but be swept away. You get chills.
Rock. Alternative. Hardcore. Anything with a message, depth, or real expression of feeling.
Showtunes. I can spend hours singing and dancing in my room, belting out Linda Eder, Sondheim, or Wildhorn.
Anything that makes me dance, no matter how "awful" it may be.
Bands/Artists - REM, Staind, Velvet Undergroud, Beth Orton, Counting Crows, Evanessence, Linda Eder, Idina Menzel, Bernadette Peters, Sarah McLaughlin, Johnny Cash, Metallica, Lincoln Park, Electric Six, The Cranberries, Gwen Stefani, Goldfrapp, Die Artze, Rammstein, Coldplay, Adam Sandler, Celine Dion, Louie Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Alanis Morissete, Vivaldi, Puccini.
Soundtracks: Cruel Intentions, Moulin Rouge, ANYthing Broadway, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Romeo and Juliet, Team America, The South Park Movie, The L Word (all seasons), Schindler's List (great violin), Broken Flowers, When Harry Met Sally.
Any and all world music; I love Spanish guitar and Eastern Meditation soundtracks.
I don't like: country music or rap.

Movies:

Film is the most collaborative of all the art forms, and therefore the one I appreciate the most.
I love the extremes, anything really ridiculous and funny - or anything really deep and thought-provoking.
COMEDIES: Old School, Dodgeball, Anchorman, Down With Love, But I'm a Cheerleader, anything Adam Sandler (50 First Dates), The Aristocrats.
DARK COMEDIES: I Heart Huckabees, The Royal Tennebaums, Punch Drunk Love, Eternal Sunshine on the Spotless Mind.
DRAMAS: Men of Honor, anything Denzel Washington (John Q, Man on Fire), City of God, O, Reqiuem For a Dream, Memento, The Game, anything Robin Williams (What Dreams May Come, Patch Adams), Cruel Intentions, American History X, Fight Club; anything that makes you think or feel.
ROMANTIC COMEDIES: Conversations with other Women, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The End of the Affair, anything Julia Roberts or Tom Hanks.
MUSICALS: Moulin Rouge
Anything Shakespeare.
INDEPENDENT FILM: Anything Sundance, Saturday (cause it's the first big movie I was in!), Melvin Goes to Dinner, I Shot Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Broken Flowers, The Constant Gardener, Thumbsucker, Melinda and Melinda
FOREIGN: French comedies are far superior satires (The Dinner Game, The Closet). The Piano Teacher (Austrian). Life is Beautiful (Italian). Memoirs of a Geisha (Japanese).
I own way too many DVDs.

Television:

Anything that I've been in!
I hardly watch TV (I don't have the time, and if I do, I prefer to read or be out!) but there's a couple shows I can't live without: The L Word, Huff - before it got cancelled :(, Family Guy, Ugly Betty, Studio 60, and though I'm shamed to admit it - American Idol (recent infatuation thanks to Rob)

Books:

Way too many to even begin to list. I love modern and classic playwrights (Richard Greenberg, Neil LaBute, Patrick Marber, Eugene Ionesco, Shakespeare, Tenesse Williams, Eve Ensler, Arthur Miller, Christopher Durang, Neil Simon, David Mamet, David Lindsay Abaire, Paula Vogel, John Patrick Shanley, Henrick Ibsen); theatrical work is some of my favorite!
Anything by Nobel Prize winning authors (if you don't read them, you should), specifically Jose Saramago, Elfriede Jelinek, Dario Fo, and Naguib Mafouz.
Textbooks - all kinds.
Anything related to the European Enlightenment, especially David Hume.
Religious texts.
Girlie fluff writers, mostly from the UK (Sophie Kinsella, Anna Maxted).
I love Jon Stewart's AMERICA.
Carl Jung's autobiography is the wisest piece of literature I have ever read. Highly recommended.
Books on Art (Dali, Picasso, Van Gogh, DaVinci, Gilbert and George, Joan Miro, Jasper Johns, modern art, etc).
Some other favorites: Prozac Nation, Tounge First, The BadAss Girls Guide to Poker, Valley of the Dolls, The Illiad/The Odyssey, anything Salinger, Orwell, or Bradbury (yes, the shit you didn't want to read in school).
I enjoy memoirs that aren't deliberately melodramatic and that have a message.
I have read every play Shakespeare has ever written.
My book collection rivals that of my DVD's.
Current read: The Philosophy of Andy Warhol (SO good).
and...drumroll please...
I own the Kama Sutra.

Heroes:

People should learn to be their own heroes.
Anyone who perseveres despite adversity and hardship. People who fight and who overcome their obstacles. People who can smile even in their darkest hour. People who help others, and who work to better themselves, others, or the world.
People who don't give up.
People who are courageous enough to accept themselves as they are, and who are as self-aware of their attributes as they are of their flaws.
