NEW ALBUM!
PASSPORT TO HELL IS OUT NOW!
"Following in the tradition of the great Neo-Rockabilly trio's of the 1980s, with a little updating, The RedHot Trio's debut album is a fine first release which displays a lots of variety and plenty of originality with 14 of the 15 songs being self-penned originals. The Rockabilly rhythms benefit from modern recording and catchy melodies, ensuring that this is no period piece. A talented band keeping the Rockabilly sound fresh and up-to-date." - Howard Piperides (Raucous Records).
"The album kicks off with ‘Black Dog’, which isa dark song about the depression, I think, which give the listener the first indication that this is not your run of the mill, bass slapping, rocka-billy album. There seems to have been a lot more thought gone into it.The next Track, ‘Crazy ‘bout you baby’, is a driving rocker built on an irrisistable guitar riff, that Ithink is great and will certainly get the dancefloor full. The third track changes pace again, andat best is a quick stroller, called ‘Too many thoughts’, and again, is obviously a well thought outpiece of writing and there’s a great guitar solo as well!I wont go through every track, but just pick out the ones that I particularly like. “Black Stabâ€, hasechoes of another song, but I cant think what it is, but it’s mixed with some nice harmonicawork..reminiscent of Dr Feelgood.“Down to Hell†is about the self destructive side of teenage life (I remember that!), a simple songbut effective. Now if you’d have told me that there was a rockabilly band singing songs that included topicalpolitical comment I’d have called you a liar, but The Red Hot Trio do it with “Guns of Afghanistanâ€.Complete with poignant samples of news reports and the sounds of gunfire, the writer....simplynamed ‘Reece’ is obviously a composer of some talent. As is the fashion, the band only do one cover on the album and it’s a cover of Blondie’s “Hangingon the telephoneâ€, which I liked a lot.The album overall is really very good....may I suggested that this is rockabilly for grown ups, thecontent is very mature and not the usual fare at all. Most bands seem to want to re-create the50’s, but not in this case. The material is presented in it’s own right without any pretensions tobeing a retro rockabilly or a rock n roll band at all. The decision is a good one and I think thatthis album can elevate the band tinto the void that was vacated when Restless decided to giveup. I think The Red Hot Trio are that good." - 'Crackerjack' magazine.
