About Me

Given that it's my first recording since 1968, the album Vietnam Dreamscape has sold very well Australia wide and I'm grateful for the support. The album is available through ABC Shops, The ABC on-line shop and the Vietnam Veterans organizations here in Australia and a 6 song American version is available from www.ccvietnamvets.com in Crossville Tennessee. There is a new album coming with a material content aimed at increasing public compassion levels for the homeless, addicted and otherwise disadvantaged members of our society. This album will be released in early October 2009.There are some extraordinary guest artists who have joined me on this new album. People like Little Pattie & Mick Raven are just 2 of them. This new Album will be titled 'Angels Beyond the Abyss' and will also feature and introduce the Vietnam Veterans' Community Singers that perform under the group name of 'Veteran Soul'.For the sake of a little background info, when I was young (18 year old) I got lucky and was signed to a major label of the day, recorded two singles - the second of which made the national charts under the studio created name of 'Christopher James' (They thought that the name 'Francis' would make people think that I was a female and its shortened version 'Frank' (given the way I look) would make people think that I was 'ethnic' which was a big problem in their narrow minds back in those days - The whole episode did however drive a management deal with the Robert Stigwood organization which put me in the same stable as the Bee Gee's etc which was pretty cool I must admit. The future looked great until I was conscripted into the Australian army during 1969 and sent to serve a 12 month tour in the Vietnam war.I hold no grudge toward the Australian government for having had been conscripted into the army but war does strange things to people and I don't mind admitting that it did strange things to me. I spent 36 years looking at life through the bottom of an empty bottle but with the help of the greatest people I know (my wife, kids & extended family) and the Vietnam Veteran's Councelling service, I have been able to get back up again. The whole world has of course changed since my last life in music and because this time around I have little interest in the limelight, I intend doing my best to share whatever comes as an exposure catalyst for other unsigned artists or bands in any age group who come along on the ride with me. There's a lot happening out there that society needs to address. It needs to happen sooner rather than later so let's go do our bit to get the job done. It'll be a blast!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.myspace.com/fedwards
Band Members: 20 member choir: Veteran Soul.
Influences: Everyone ever out there or the others yet to come - Everyone is good in each one's own special way. Everyone becomes an influence of some kind on others. Mickey Newbury is a songwriter hero to me but I believe that any one who ever sat down in front of a blank piece of paper and attempted to say something worthwhile adds to the creative energy and the collective thought pool that we all draw from.
Sounds Like: As a choir, we do choral arrangements of Vietnam War era hits covering Motown, Rock & Pop of the 60's, as a solo artist singer/songwriter, I see my material as being what I call 'Social Comment Caberet'
Record Label: Veteran Thunder
Type of Label: Indie

Let's get serious!

Statistics declare that there are around 100, 000 homeless people in Australia and the numbers are rising. The newer breed of homeless are coming from the mindless chaos spawned by the term 'Weal...
