Raleigh has long been the more densely populated, somewhat misguided neighbor of the indie boom-town Chapel Hill. It's downtown consists of nothing more than a few blocks of buildings and a few local venues. This record, and this band, are better than that. From the synth-driven acoustic spectacle of 'This Banjo' to the chant-like start of 'Rocket for Two', highly original percussion works more than it's usual ambient noise, pushing the album above its roots, giving "feel the warmth of all the people staring at your last resort" a nervous and complex feel. Levi Christopher's voice is easily comparable to that of The Organ's Katie Sketch or Dan Bejar. -Satisfied Fan
Clothing & Shoes began in August 2007, shortly after writer Levi Christopher moved to Raleigh, NC from his hometown of Mansfield, OH. After eight months of writing and recording the self-titled album after work hours and on weekends, its completion finally arrived the following May. The band members slowly fell into place shortly after, and made way for an East Coast tour with Jonathan Hape that July.
Clothing & Shoes is now performing actively across North Carolina. Levi continues to write new material for a sophomore album to be released late summer 2009.
