CHECK OUT MY RECENT REVIEW HERE:
Well, here I am. Fresh on the scene. Older and wiser....maybe. Excited and ready for whatever is thrown my way....definitely.
I’ve been singing for as long as I remember, and started work on my first album in the summer of 2007 after being introduced to a tremendous producer/engineer – Mixy at Wordplay Studios. He has given me huge inspiration and confidence to be unique and individual, and I have a lot of respect for both his skills and his work ethic. You can check out his work and find out more about Wordplay TV at www.myspace.com/wordplaydastudio
I would class myself as a singer/songwriter, and am lucky enough to be supplied with incredible beats from Mixy, Tranzam, Bluntman, CLK and Beneath the Surface Productions. I’m currently trying to learn to arrange and produce my own tracks as well - I think it’s important for any kind of artist to really know the processes that go into what they are creating. Knowledge is power – you can never know too much!
In December 2007 I was lucky enough to reach the final 15 in the Hugo Boss Urban Rules music competition. This gave me the opportunity to go to London and work with and meet industry professionals for 2 days (Issac ‘Turbo’ Baptiste, Don E, Amerie, Mervyn Lyn, Steve Sutherland and more!), and was even blessed to be given the opportunity to perform two songs. It was an incredible experience and, although I wasn’t lucky enough to reach the final 3, or win, it was an amazing opportunity (oh, and I got to be on MTV!).
I don’t like to categorise my “style†– my music is just my music! I have a really diverse ear and my iPod is definitely a musical journey – from Faure’s Requiem to Wu Tang Clan to Tina Turner to Prince; it totally depends on my mood, and I would love to think that my own writing reflects this diversity. I don’t ever want to pigeon-hole myself and say “Oh, I sing X, Y or Zâ€. Music is about growth, development, change, and personal experience, and I really try to let my music describe my own personal journey.
I love the whole process of producing music – from receiving a beat to writing the lyrics to finding that killer hook. Nothing beats the excitement in your tummy when you’ve been working long into the night and you suddenly hit that one note, or crack that one riff, that you know entirely makes your song.
By the end of 2008 I want to have produced (at least) a 5-track demo, done many more live performances, radio appearances and PAs, and have grown and developed both vocally and in my musical skill set. I’m also writing for Intrigue magazine ( Intrigue ) and also www.altsounds.com and these are definitely projects that are going somewhere. Please go and check out the magazines and let me know what you think.

Much love
Miss Lucy
