About Me
In the 504 of Louisiana, May 31, 1990, Victoria “Tori†Evans was born to Eric and Christine. She didn’t grow up in poverty, but she wasn’t exactly born on the sunny side of the suburbs either. Regardless, she was raised in a home with parents who instilled Christian principles, who taught her that true treasures are not of this world.
However, you can lead a horse to water… but you can’t make it drink. Tori didn’t accept the truth of Jesus until Jesus was all she had. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee, and while there experienced extremely hard times. Revealed in her song entitled “Restorationâ€, she was betrayed and misused. The betrayal caused immense pain and a ripple that negatively affected every aspect of her life. She was bitter and angry… not just at those who inflicted the hurt, but also at the God who she felt allowed it. After much time had passed and another move occurred (to Baltimore, MD), her heart was captured by the loving God that had been there all along. Once blinded by grief, her eyes were opened to the wonderful truth about who Jesus is and who she is because of Him. She began to realize that she wasn’t defined by sorrows or the standards of this world, but instead by the beauty that is found in Jesus Christ.
Living in a household with 6 children, 2 grandparents, and 2 parents, it was expected that she’d someday see the need to find her own voice. The surprising part was the voice she found. Victoria became VICTORIOUS. She took the scribbles and stanzas inspired by struggles and shortcomings, and utilized them to… well, rap. Completely destroying the stereotype that a culture created, this young, southern, white girl began stunning everyone that heard her rhymes. Deeply rooted in her love for Christ, scripturally-based and biblically inspired, her lyrics speak volumes about where her heart is. “Every bit of good that is in me is Jesus... I just want them to have what I have.â€
She now resides in Chicago, IL and is a Senior at Warren High School. She doesn’t know what next year will bring. God has led her to Inner City work in Philly and New Orleans. She prays doors will open so that she can team up with a Missions Organization and preach love to those immersed in poverty. Using the vessel of hip hop, she’ll speak the language of the streets so the message will be clear and understandable: “It’s all about Christ. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be doing it.â€
