Born and bred in Birmingham, Raj Kaul has maintained a strong link with his heritage and culture in Punjab. He was brought up listening to Punjabi legends such as Gurdas Maan, Hans Raj Hans and Chamkila. At a young age he used to sing with his family at parties in a relaxed atmosphere and was always well appreciated. It was while he was at secondary school and college that his love for singing and music really started to grow and develop. This was a period of where thoughts of becoming a singer are rooted. It was during this time that he was encouraged by his mum and aunt to sing; to the extent that they tried to find an avenue to express his talent. However nothing at that time came to surface. When he was eighteen he went to India after not visiting for ten years. It was there where he was again very well appreciated in his ancestral village of Haripur; being constantly asked to sing everywhere he went. However it was also there that he noticed how much his Punjabi in terms of speaking and pronouncing words correctly needed to improve. On one hand there were groups of people who encouraged his singing and on the other there were people who discouraged him due to certain mispronunciations in his Punjabi. It was also during one of his many visits to India he noticed how the youth of India were losing their heritage and values. He states this as one of his main inspirations to pursue singing so that it can be used to influence our youth both here and in India to keep hold of their precious culture.Having already acquired the skill of reading and writing he has spent many years perfecting his speaking, even now he is constantly improving and developing his speaking skills. He also uses his skills in Punjabi to write and compose his own songs which are excellent in their own right. His song writing skills have already pleasantly surprised many people from India who are shocked that someone born in England can write so well.During his early twenties whilst listening to great singers such as Nasrut Fateh Ali Khan, Sabar Koti and Hans Raj Hans; he felt the need to greatly improve his skills as a singer. To achieve this he is took on the challenge to learn classical singing from Meena Kumari Ji, a renowned classical vocalist and one of the founders of the classical institution of Dhanak. He is currently pursuing a degree in Indian Classical Music with Meena Kumari Ji.It was through Meena Kumari Ji that he was introduced to JusRitz; a rising and extremely talented young DJ and Producer. They immediately built an amazing rapport and Raj Kaul used his talent for writing songs and singing to collaborate with JusRitz to produce fresh and mind blowing music that will take the Punjabi and Indian music industry to new levels. He is currently working with other producers as well, with plans to launch a solo album.. All news and details will be regularly posted on this websiteLOVEMYFLASH CODE
