Born in Inglewood, California, this Los Angeles native has gone through twist and turns striving to get his voice heard in the World of music. Growing up Cobe (Born Coby Chukwuka Obiesie) fell in love with music played by his "Nigerian" parents that consisted of traditional Nigerian tunes, Fela Kuti, Sunny Ade, Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, and Michael Jackson. Listening to various artists helped his creativity at the tender age of seven, and at age twelve he began to discover his writing skills as an MC. Cobe's Nigerian parents did not advocate his serious interest in music as he grew up into a young man, but rather pushed him to focus on his academics. Cobe did just that, (not exactly) at the age of 16 years old he picked up the "Autobiography of Malcolm X" and had a completely different outlook on life. He started to pursue topics that he felt more of a connection with and became thirsty for knowledge, in which he began studying the subjects and ideologies of many freethinkers in history, creating his own perception on reality.
Cobe has many influences in his life, and with his wide variety of influences, this intelligent Emcee raps and sings about a mixture of topics such as oppression, love, politics, racism, African culture, and peaceful music. Cobe reveals his versatility and unique artistic ability by singing and rapping on jazzy soulful beats from his brother K.O Sunni Ali Ber. Cobe and K.O together are "The Cosmos," and both seek to capture the masses of cognizant and unconscious listeners around the world.
When asked at a political event in San Francisco's Bayview Hunters Point about his goals for his music he said, "I seek to utilize my musical talents by delivering reality music to the people, with the intentions on bringing peace and enlightenment to their lives.
