About Me
I'm a former journalist and sports writer for Newhouse Newspapers. I have worked at horse racing tracks in California on the publicity staff and covered The Meadowlands when it first opened in NJ. Covered harness and thoroughbred racing and The Cosmos soccer team, as well as high school and college sports. Also covered town council meetings, school board meetings, fires and the police beat, and your average, everyday news assignments. I wouldn't mind getting back into sports journalism (hint, hint).I later moved into Public Relations and advertising and had my own agency in California, New Jersey and Florida, working for clients in a wide variety of businesses. About 12 years ago, I began working with glass, crystal and marble to make unique and personalized gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and a host of other events, including corporate recognition and sports awards.Until a serious roll-over auto accident in 2001, I loved to go to the gym and work out. An elderly woman ran a stop sign, t-boned my truck and rolled it onto its roof. I have had two fusions of my cervical spine and face the possibility of more. The lawsuit and surgeries have managed to dominate my life for several years. When my life is back to normal again, I plan to get back to doing the things I enjoyed doing before this all began, including the gym. I know it never will be at the level I used to work out at, but I still will enjoy being back in the gym.Have acted off-Broadway and with a NJ theater group when I was younger. Have been told I should sing professionally, but most of my singing is done in the shower, or when no one is around and I can really let loose. Singing is a very emotional thing for me. Had a professional baseball tryout with the KC Royals in 1972. I still think I could play better than a lot of guys in the majors, but not that day. But it was interesting and something not everyone has been able to experience.Got married when I was 41 and divorced when I was 48. Not looking to get married again, but also not adverse to the possibility. Right now, just looking to meet a few people, make a few friends and maybe pick up some new customers. I was on myspace once before, but left because it got to be more work than fun. Want to try again and try to keep the friends list down to a manageable number.I've grown and undergone some changes since my divorce and accident. I think they have been for the better. I have grown emotionally and spiritually. It has taken me a long time to get where I am in my life, but I am pretty comfortable with who I am. I hope the people I meet here on myspace will be able to help me continue along that path of growth. I have been blessed with good friends and good people who have come into my life at various times. I'd like to think that I haven't had any bad experiences in my life, only some that I didn't bother to learn from and a few I might have thought at the time I could have lived without. But they all, people and experiences, have contributed to who I am today.
