About Me

Jean-Pierre Covini played with a number of different blues-rock and rock'n'roll bands. At the beginning of the eighties, he accompanied Harry Spencer, a well-established songwriter and poet from Madagascar, performing in concert throughout Spain and France including the renowned Festival d'Orange in 1983. He composed in 1985 a suite of sounds and musics to performed live in art exhibitions with the french poet Pascal Sablier.
Jean-Pierre Covini continued to compose music for himself as well as for international radio networks including the BBC and Radio France Internationale. "The Battle of the Holy Eggs", "Musiques pour les Cites Anciennes" and "Les Architectures Sonores" were broadcasted by the French radio network France Culture. "The Hunger - Project" and Les Prisonniers du Monde Rural" were commissioned for Amnesty International, and were broadcast in Europe and in the USA.
At the same time Jean-Pierre wrote a featured musical column for Roland Castro's weekly publication "Legendes du Siecle".
After meeting the Zen Comunity in Paris during the eighties, Jean-Pierre Covini began to paint original calligraphies with traditional black china ink and watercolors inks, keeping his work secret for years, except for two private exhibitions in Teneriffe, in the Canary Islands.
In 1995 he met French TV Producer Sebastien Bousquet and worked with him for eight years, composing original music for different short movies and TV-shows broadcast on Canal Plus and TF1. television networks. He also composed the music for the movie " Les Couples mixtes " directed by Pamela Valente and broadcast in Brazil.
June 2007 - Jean-Pierre Covini & Bertrand Taussac, associated in production & composition within the team of Radio France Internationale have won an award at the New York Festival "50 years Radio Broadcasting awards" http://www.newyorkfestivals.com
Right now Jean-Pierre Covini is producing a set of songs with the active participation of musicians: Vincent Trecan - saxophone, Bertrand Taussac - drums'n bass, Ludovic Duquénoy - bass and singers Eloisia from Brazil, Liu Xiaoyan from China, Marina Dziadzushka from Belorussia, Mochi from Japan and Martina Bjorn from Sweden.
