Formed in 2006, Alberteen have in the past performed in other guises, namely Charnel House and Mango Groovy, supporting such independent mavericks as Primal Scream, John Peel favourites The Wolfhounds and even anarcho-folkists Blyth Power. Their influences are just as far reaching.

Now, several years later, following a joyous reunion at a funeral, they have reformed around the core nucleus of Philip Shaw, John Rose and Adrian Berry, joined by the driving rhythms of Ron Snell in the studio with an album’s worth of new material (the debut album It Felt Like Forever), with poetic, guitar and Hammond driven songs, covering such subjects as the fascist film maker Leni Riefenstahl, as well as 50s rockabilly influenced tracks such as Classic MF and the latino-tinged Charity Pen, drenched with Spanish melancholy.

The album was recorded at Leicester’s Cordelia Studios between July and November 2007 with Alan Jenkins, where the band had the opportunity to experiment with an array of vintage guitars, percussion instruments and 60s/70s keyboards, resulting in a record that possesses the diversity of The Beatles White Album whilst still sounding like a very 21st century record. Alberteen, now joined by Chris Nicholls on drums, will be making live appearances sporadically throughout the year.
We now have a sister site called The Maginot Line where, from time to time, you will be able to hear additional songs, demos and live tracks. Simply click on The Maginot Line at the top of our friends.
