Hope Binds Reason

About Me

Advice for the Millenium: Respond to circumstance and answer the bell; "adapt, improvise, overcome; don't let them paint you into a corner."

"Paint what you know not what you see, hope binds reason thankfully... Know how it is when something fits, then there's just a question of being it." - Beth Orton

Co-owner of the Detroit-based Mack Aborn Rhythmic Arts label which released several full-length discs by Sonic's Rendezvous band (Sweet Nothing and City Slang) and the Secrets & Space collection. Produced each of those releases, several dozen tracks for the legendary Detroit Energy Asylum and have worked extensively with Patti Smith.

Over the past five years I've moonlighted as a legal investigator and research consultant for David Thomas, Laurel Legler and Future/Now Films (MC5 - A True Testimonial), helping to defend against a vengeful lawsuit filed by a former MC5 member. (Mission accomplished BTW.)

Currently production manager for the insanely talented Luis Resto, developing a book project focused on Detroit music, exploring the creative possibilities offered by a genre-defying instrumental Detroit Energy Asylum retrospective, tentatively titled Landslide Of Life and continuing to seek new adventures in sound and space.

What's your story?

“We must welcome the future, remembering that soon it will be the past; and we must respect the past, remembering that it was once all that was humanly possible” - George Santayana

"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." - Albert Einstein

"Some people make money, I make history." - Tony Wilson, Factory Records

"Progress is not future, it is keeping up with the present." - Patti Smith

"And those who were dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." - Friedrich Nietzsche

"Who feels it, knows it." - Bob Marley

"I come up hard, awful hard
I had to win
Then start all over
And win again

I come up hard
But that's okay
Cause trouble man
Don't get in my way

I know some places
And I see some faces
I've got the connections
I dig my directions
What people say, that's okay
They don't bother me...

I'm ready to make it
Don't care what the weather
Don't care about no trouble
Got myself together
I feel the kind of protection
That's all around me

I come up hard, baby
I've been for real..."
