About Me

Gilad has been singing "professionally" since the age of 7 when he joined his elementary school choir. He has performed in the biggest venues and on television shows in his native country of Israel as a member of several singing groups. Gilad went to high school on Long Island, NY where he first discovered his love for classical singing and was a soloist with the school's different voice ensembles. After one year of study at the Rimon school for Jazz and Contemporary music in 2000/01 he went into the Israeli Defense Force to serve his country. As singer and commander in the Israeli Armored Corps Entertainment group he has performed in numerous events, some in front of heads of state including the Israeli Prime Minister. During this time he worked as a singing waiter-bartender at the NightLine theater restaurant and recorded vocals for TV shows and for hotel entertainment shows. Gilad, realizing the need to fulfill his dreams, moved back to the U.S. in 2005 and is studying classical voice performance in the Aaron Copland school of Music in Queens College. He has performed as a soloist with the school's choirs and orchestra and in scenes and full operas as a member of the opera studio. These included solo performances in Carnegie Hall and St. Patrick's Cathedral in 2007. That same year Gilad also produced his performance of Britten's Serenade with an 11-piece ensemble. In 2008, Gilad sang the role of Don Basilio in the Queens College production of "Le Nozze di Figaro", and in May 2009 he sang the title role in Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo", to much acclaim. Around Queens College Gilad has performed Israeli & American pop music in different social clubs' events, including the large Hillel Jewish club, and also performed at the annual Gala event for the FIDF in December 2007. Beginning in October 2008, Gilad has been the President of the Queens College Classical Singer Career Development Club, which he also co-founded. This organization performs regularly around campus and in other events. Gilad is also part of Pictures Of Home, a classic-rock-inspired band that he formed with his good friend Yonatan Biton. href="http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vczEyNC5waG90b2J1Y2 tldC5jb20vYWxidW1zL3AyOS9naWxhZHBhei8/YWN0aW9uPXZpZXcmY3Vycm VudD1QNDE1MDAwNi5qcGc=" target="_blank"> As Don Basilio in "The Marriage of Figaro"
