Band Members: the concept of "members" really has no meaning anymore...not like it used to. does it? what is a "member?" a disciple? hopefully not. a contributor? not usually. a part of a whole? not when the part is so very much smaller than "the whole." this "band member" idea is a fading idea, and will be forgotten by coming generations. in the very near future, i predict that performing artists of all media will complete entire world tours by giving only one performance. they will use holographic projectors (or some better method of delivery) to recreate this one "real" performance all over the world simultaneously (for a small price, obviously.) no one will know if they are actually watching/listening/etc. to the "real" artists or to the "real" representations of real artists...and after a while, it will cease to matter because it will become commonplace and generally accepted.the entire industry of the performing arts will instantly become a lot more profitable (no touring costs, etc.) ultimately, this will put an end to now-popular beliefs concerning a career in the arts vs. a career in business. high school graduates will go to college to become bass players, and not lawyers. artists will have more time on their hands to create better art, and we will all enter a second renaissance without even the tiniest hint of what will happen next, because it will exist within the moment...but outside of ourselves, which is really the only true measure of things that we human beings have convinced ourselves as undeniably true.and what of trial and error in a world that can be digitally remastered, remixed, re-edited, re-cast, re-visioned, etc.? the holographic "real" representation of the real artist will never play a bad note...not ever. he/she/it will be digitally monitored for "errors" that will be auto-corrected in "real" time. after a decade or so, people will begin to prefer the "real" representations of the real artists because they will have become infallible, whereas the "real" members of the band will always drink a few too many whiskey shots and puke on themselves. the "real" represenations will never grow old, get fat, shave their heads, or sympathize with the out-of-fashion religious group or political party. these images will become our slaves, and our gods. after this happens, maybe we'll just get rid of humanity altogether and give sway to the clicks and whistles reminding us to eat, work, fuck, and sleep.

Sounds Like: "hey hopturn, what's your shit sound like?" good question, Anonymous-Voice-In-My-Head. maybe it sounds like you when you sing in the shower. or mimes when they talk. or squid eating squid. or grass growing. a friend of mine suggested that it sounds like a bad movie soundtrack. wow. really, it just sounds like everything else to mannequins anyway.
