Originally from London (practically grew up at Ronnie Scotts) Now residing in Los Angeles but desperately want to go home. I miss England so much it took me too long to realize where my heart is! My dream is to retire to my England and find a cottage with a garden, of course. (I'm too romantic, I know). The most incredible time in my life was when I spent much time in Paris meeting Bud Powell & Francis Paudras, Johnny Griffin, Art Taylor (Uncle Arthur)! During my younger days when I lived in London, I was honored to meet many jazz greats. And to some, even became their friend. Basie, Ellington, Dexter, and Q. What a blast!I've been married three times! Nice to be free now to indulge in my love which is Jazz, piano, and whatever else I fancy!I decided a few years ago not to dream about playing the piano any longer. So, I taught myself to read music and play (not perfectly) but play! When I made this decision, out of the blue a friend gave me a Baby Grand Piano!
I have just ordered some music - Thelonius Monk Solos - a fake book). I can't wait. Oh Oh, just rcd it - a bit difficult!
My favourite songs to play now are Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most, Too Late Now, Don't Worry 'Bout Me, In a Sentimental Mood, Autumn in New York,A Nightingale Sang....etc., etc. Get the idea?
I had so much music in me that I knew I could do it. In fact, I had just read Wayne Dyer's The Power of Intention. He wrote - don't die with the music in you. Obviously I took it literally.
