The Chicken Tractor emerges out of the hills and small towns of Penns Valley, the geographic center of Pennsylvania, to put their queer shoulder to the gilded wheel of 21st Century End Time.

Band Members: The Chicken Tractor is Jimmy James Baughman (bass fiddle, vocals), Nell Hanssen (guitar, banjo ukulele, trumpet, vocals), Kai Schafft (vocals, banjo, tenor resophonic guitar, and guitar), Allan Bowers (drums), Dave Mudgett (pedal steel guitar, baritone guitar) and assorted others as we desire. Influences: The Chicken Tractor plays American Rural Music. We draw our roots from old 78 rpm records, rural church music, mountain murder ballads, classic country and honky tonk, sheer fuck-all, string band and old time music, all run through the cosmic filter of Dr. Humphrey Bates and his Possum Hunters, Lily Mae Ledford, Gram Parsons, Sarah, A.P. and Mother Maybelle, George Jones, All-Girl Roller Derby, the Louvin Brothers, Blind Willie Johnson, Walt Whitman, Carl Smith, Owl Bowel, Motorhead, Wade Ward, the Wringers, Eugene Chadbourne, Daniel A.I.U. Higgs, The MacGillicuddies, Gaither Carlton, Clarence Ashley, Charlie Poole, Frank Proffitt, Fred Cockerham, The Boys from Joyland, The Wayward Girls, Brother Claude Ely, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Uncle Dave Macon, Hazel Dickens, Hasil Adkins, Ola Belle Reed, Arthur E.
