About Me

Founded in 2004 at the School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University, the Broad Street Brass Quintet consists of the finest performers and music educators. The BSBQ has maintained an active performing schedule doing educational outreach concerts and masterclasses.In 2006 the BSBQ performed at the Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Also in 2006, the quintet performed at the National Conference for the Society of Composers, performing works by David Sartor and Mike D' Ambrosio. In 2007 the quintet had the priviledge to perform in a masterclass for the world-renowned Boston Brass.Also in 2007, the BSBQ traveled to Lincoln, NE for the Chamber Music Institute hosted by the Univeresity of Nebraska - Lincoln. The quintet had the honor to perform in several masterclasses for the Chiara String Quartet, and performed a world premiere of a work entitled "Rhythm Management Op.12" by composer Chris Burton. While participating at the CMI, the BSBQ had the distinct pleasure of sharing the stage with tremendously talented student ensembles from the University of Michigan, Eastman School of Music, and The Juilliard School. The Broad Street Brass Quintet has also performed at the First, Second, and Third Annual "Day of Music" Concerts at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, home of the Nashville Symphony.In 2008 the quintet traveled to Louisville, KY for the International Brass Chamber Music Festival (ICMBF) hosted by the University of Louisville School of Music. Here the BSBQ participated in a brass quintet competition and heard several fine ensembles perform.Members of the Broad Street Brass Quintet have performed or are currently performing in the Nashville Symphony, Murfreesboro Symphony, Chattanooga Symphony, Huntsville Symphony, and the Nashville Philharmonic.div
