Combining the talent of multi-instrumentalist Ruben with the natural skills of Joshua creates a special synergy and dynamic.
The main instrument heard on this album is the young and unique Hang drum. The PanArt Hang is a melodious percussive instrument that is similar to the steel drum. However, since it is played with the fingers, the sound is generally much softer. On some of the tracks on Earth Chakras the Hang is dominant; on other tracks it is subtly there to support either a concertina, a voice, percussion or nature sounds. About the structure of the album
The first two tracks introduce an energetic level representing the state of our world. This energy could flow through a busy day of work, rushing the children off to school, homemaking, being stuck in traffic, at the office or any other day-to-day business. But take a step back and see how and where it flows and how and where it is obstructed.
After the first ten minutes of the album the listener will be tuning into a second, more paced down movement - this part is also composed to be played during a yoga or pilates work-out or to be experienced during bodily or other physical therapy like massage, breathing or more subtle kind of treatments. It relaxes, lets you gain focus and might even generate a trance-like state of mind. Or, as one listener stated: “The music creates a special atmosphere. It gives me time for myself.â€
The third part picks you up and moves you further into the rhythm of life - however in a relaxed, happy and rejuvenating pace.
The album is made to give you an hour for yourself. It is an easy withdrawal from the hectic world around you, lets you tap into the energy that is omnipresent. This energy is yours and mine, it emanates from the Earth and flows freely through the Universe.
You will then return to an energized state of being.
