CHAPTER FOUR

About Me

-- Picking Up The Pieces EP --
NOW AVAILABLE AT SMARTPUNK
So yeah, we are Chapter Four and we like to play music and stuff. We are originally from the small and scarcely populated island nation of Kaua'i. Kaua'i is fun, but playing shows for the same fourteen people every night can get kind of boring. So, in 2000-something, we moved to Cali to continue our "musical" efforts. We were minus a bass player (he stayed on Kaua'i with dreams of becoming the first white security gaurd at Kauai High School), but with surprisingly little effort we found "Jeff" (who had moved from Plano eight years earlier, and who still reeked of Texas). "Jeff" was quickly dubbed Chunk (like from that Ataris movie). I don't know how it happened really, I think we fed him and he just kinda followed us home. But anyway, with the new addition we were all set and we immediately got started procrastinating. Eventually, we recorded some songs, though, and started playing some pretty damn cool shows with some pretty damn cool bands. We now play lots of shows regionally and tour as much as school and work will allow. If you come check us out live mention that you heard about us on Myspace and you'll get a free... hug? Anyway, the future looks bright for Chapter Four as 2006 unfolds, with hopes of bringing down the Victory Records machine, stopping horrid music everywhere! Thanks for reading our boring bio...

1/4/07 UPDATE: So, it's 2007. We stated in our bio that the future looked bright. I guess it wasn't bright enough. We're not playing anymore and Victory Records is still alive and well. Even Hawthorne Heights tried to get out.... though unsuccessfully. At least Victory has an impressive back-catalog. Robby is a graduate of Cal State University, Channel Islands with some sort of degree in business. He's working for Velvet Jones in Santa Barbara. Daniel has moved to Nashville, TN for a future in audio engineering and makes coffee for Ben Folds. Bryan continues to sell more cell phones than your mother and is nearing completion of his studies over at University of California, Santa Barbara. Chunk is still loosely affiliated with Lobster Records. Brian drives an ambulance for 72 hours a week. Don't you feel like you just watched the end of a True Life special on MTV?

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Robby plays guitar and does this thing that he calls singing
Daniel also plays guitar and sings
Bryan(aka "Bers") plays drums like a machine
Chunk plays a three string bass and eats a lot of Reyes BRC burritos.

Some of you may have noticed that we have a lovely Asian fellow playing for us in Daniel's absence. His name is Brian Kuroda and he's pretty much the bomb shiz. He plays in an awesome band called Fly By Night . Add them!
Influences: I think Chapter Four's main influences come from our environment and the things and people around us; all the things that make us happy and piss us off. We believe that the world can be changed for the better through music and we intend to do just that: improve this world we all share by spreading a message of social change. If, by influences, you mean what are some bands we listen to, then the list looks something like this: Strike Anywhere, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Fly By Night, Versus the World, Sicker Than Others, The Riot Before, Epileptic Hero, Bright Life, Kid Dynamite, Hot Water Music, Staring Back, NoFX, Nirvana, Over It, Strung Out (everything before Exile In Oblivion, of course), Mae, Anberlin, Rise Against, The Weakerthans, Acceptance, Days Like These, Good Riddance, The Lawrence Arms, Jawbreaker, Lorene Drive, A Wilhelm Scream, Cartel, Park, Bad Astronaut, Jets To Brazil, Useless ID, The Impossibles, Jimmy Eat World, Propagandhi, Hawthorne Heights (kidding, just seeing if you're still paying attention), Pantera, The Arcade Fire, Bracket, The Get Up Kids, None More Black, Bright Eyes, Refused, Ben Folds Five, A Small Victory, Nerf Herder, Andrew WK, The Descendents, Five Iron Frenzy, Steel Pulse, Diesel Boy, No Use for a Name, Less Than Jake, Alkaline Trio, Foo Fighters, Divit, Against Me, Pablo Francisco, Brian Regan, Dane Cook, and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole just to name a few.
Sounds Like: We aren't gonna flatter ourselves by claiming we sound like any half-way decent band or by claiming that we have our own "unique style." We play music that we like, if you happen to like it too, cool. If not, oh well. Go check us out and you be the judge.
Record Label: Nope, DIY biotch!
