I am interested in people, in places, in the past and the future; humanity, peace and harmony; nature and beauty - which is everywhere and in all things if you just tilt your head the right way. And learning. I am always interested in learning something - anything. I am intrigued by life and all it emcompasses.
Gay Terms for Unknowledged Folk
I enjoy meeting people in general. Like to meet people who are creative, centered, comfortable in their own skins. Don't like to meet people who are self involved and/or entrenched in drama.
Love music - love to dance. Like all kinds of music. Love, of course, chick music, indie music, folk music, independant music. My favorite artist is my good friend Anni Hallman. She rocks. I am thankful to have been introduced to the music of some great women - Stacy Sharp, Sara Lesher, KristiFuckinNeuman, Lindsey Hinkle. Of course I love Kristy Lee, Melissa Ferrick, and the Goddess Ani DeFranco. Close to my heart is Natalie Merchant. Love classic rock, alternative, jazz, blues - Billy Holiday is great for a romantic dinner! Some head banging, some rap - Missy Elliot is the bomb, love Outkast, OMG - In the Closet... R. Kelly's Opus (lol - Shannon, Mia - you my girls). I really like Jose Stone, and entirely too many people to think of right now. I guess you could say my taste is very eccecletic
I haven't been able to keep up with movies the last few years - no time to go. But I love a good suspense (not to be confused with horror flick), a good cry, a good laugh. Some all time favorites are Alive (was facinated because it was true - love things that show the strength of the human spirit), Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Man Who Would Be King (very old)..... This is so hard! Can't think on the spot! LOL
OK, so I admit that I'm a big dork - love real news, TLC, History Channel, A&E. Am a Law & Order junkie. Love sitcoms (Friends, Seinfield) Don't watch a lot of TV and usually late at night - so often I don't see sitcoms until they are in reruns. Love The L Word, of course. When I have time I will watch things like Last Comic Standing - love any stand up comedy. I'm always up for some South Park. But, as I said, right now I watch very little TV.
Just finished The Giver - liked the book, hated the ending. I love to read and will read most anything. I used to be a consumate reader but haven't kept up on my reading so much the last 4 years - like everything else I "used" to enjoy. Working on correcting that now. Really like "The DeVinci Code", and live by "You Can Heal Your Own Life".
You know, there are many people that I respect and admire on many, many levels. I have an affinity with the military (those who serve, not the battle or those who choose the battle) and have the utmost respect for the service men & women who do it for the right reason. Those in the medical field - again, who do it for the right reason. Anyone who's job requires exceptional courage, compassion, strength of character, etc. Then there are the average people who are extraordinary in their own way - the mother who holds her family together while dealing with financial problems, a truly sick child, etc. Those who have lost someone they love in a traumatic way but who channel their grief into fund raising, education about the disease or crime that took their loved one, etc. I believe the world is full of heros and that if you only look you will see them everywhere.
