The term “truth†is synonymous with fact, sincerity, candor, frankness and precision. The MC Truth embodies all of that and promises to deliver such with his unique brand of raw, unmistakably New York City gritty hip-hop.
Truth was raised on real rap from the Mecca that sparked the movement. Growing up in Queens, he was exposed at an early age to local legends like Run-DMC, Kool G Rap, Nas, Mobb Deep and Large Professor, all of which left an indelible imprint on the culture and his brain.
At age 12, Truth decided to turn his passion into a pursuit and began writing rhymes and paying closer attention to beat patterns. Taking his cue from MCs like GZA and acts such as Gang Starr and Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Truth sought to expose, uplift and contribute to the culture that has meant so much to him since Day 1.
He has worked with world-class DJs and producers, including Rock Steady Crew’s DJ JS-1 and DJ Doom, and rocked stages across the Five Boroughs at clubs like Exit, Speed, the Pyramid, etc.
With his eye trained on preserving what by many accounts may be a dying culture, Truth vows to play his part to ensure the survival of the four elements that have shaped his style and impacted him on so many levels.
