"Plastic Halo... Brilliant songs, unrestrained energy and a very strong attitude. Breathtaking live-act." Jury Grand Price of Groningen
"The band produces supermelodic, British oriented poprock with a great taste for drama. Very promising for the future." Oor Magazine
"Theres nothing I'd rather see than 4 young dogs leaping upon the stage, showing they're out to enjoy themselves 500%. On top of that, they appear to have loads of potential hits!" 3voor12.nl
BIOGRAPHY
Life is easy for Sean Lennon. Singing in a high-pitched, nasal voice and getting it labeled ‘special', like the voice his dear father could also produce on some of his countless records. Lacking a famous father, Jorrit Boxum of the Dutch Britrock 'n' Rollband Plastic Halo has to put his trust in the audience, hoping they will appreciate the eccentricity after getting used to his very own 'special voice'. Eccentricity is definitely a keyword for Plastic Halo. Lovely sweet melodies against a background of violent guitar noise, lyrics drowned in spleen or the first day of spring, a stage performance that sometimes causes a lot of harm to the band members but makes them the local heroes they are, and most of all their love for rock 'n' roll, violins, drama and madness.
Established in 2001 after an ad placed by guitarist Robert-Jan Rischen, the group quickly developed to a promising new act, attracting crowded venues and good reviews. Just half a year later, the unexpected death of their founding member during an epileptic fit on January 27th 2002 leaves the group shocked. The band took a hiatus to come back matured, in spring 2003, with their first ep titled "Platform pH 01". The emotionally charged cd includes the last song Robert-Jan wrote, "What..s Left To Ask The World Today?". Now, years later, the band became on of the tightest young groups around because of their shared history. The jurys of band competitions all over the country approve this, and the second album "Singles 2005" was a good-selling local piece of art.
Being in your early twenties is a phase with a dual character. It's the era of having enough future to look forward to, enough past to regret, and the present being busy making other plans, as Lennon sr. put it nicely. Plastic Halo, born an average 22 years ago, wouldn’t be the first to have all this as a central theme, but also doesn’t resort to limitless self-pity. The new record, "The Time Is Right (but what’s Left of it?)" is a collection of songs with a dramatic optimism, when even the light at the end of the tunnel appears to be a lightning bug in a cave...
