In the spring of 1989, after seeing the “King’s Singers†concert in Salerno, and being inspired by Bobby Mc Ferrin’s “The Voice†and “Take 6†records, Diego Caravano decided to set up an A Cappella Group. He then called Mario Crescenzo, a school friend with a particularly deep voice and introduced his cousins Gonzalo and Mimì Caravano to him.
After a trial period with a five member group, Diego involved his brother Ciro who was also capable of arranging the songs and working on the vocal performance.
So the Crecason started up and, between 1990 and 1992, they gave numerous concerts with an already very big repertoire (Beatles, Blues Brothers Band, Pino Daniele, Blood Sweat and Tears etc.).
In the summer of ’92, Ciro decided to move to Rome to work with Claudio Mattone; a decision which was to prove decisive for the group’s career.
The Crecason then had a temporary stop, during which Diego took his piano diploma and played keyboards with Napoli Centrale, the band of the saxophonist James Senese.
At the same time, he started writing songs with a talented friend from Salerno, Massimo De Divitiis, who was then living in Milan.
Together with Claudio, Ciro made a large number of recordings and soundtracks and played keyboards in his close friend Stefano Palatresi’s band. It was precisely Palatresi who gave thr Crecason the chance to sing at the JOY in Rome, where Claudio Mattone saw them and was so impressed by the performance that he immediately and enthusiastically decided to work on the project that, within a few months, would be number one in Italian charts under the name of Neri Per Caso.
During recording the trial pieces Diego invited Massimo de Divitiis to move to Rome and join the band.
That was the start of the N P C who recorded 6 albums for the Italian market and 3 for the international market between 1994 and 2007, selling more than a million copies.

All the N P C pieces, both live and recorded, are arranged by Diego and Ciro Caravano (except for a couple of songs).
The Caravano’s brothers also produced the record “The Grass†by the Danish vocal group BASIX in 2001 (gold record in Scandinavia) and, in 2002, they wrote and produced the sound track for the film “Amici Ahrarara†(directed by F. Amurri).
They are currently recording the N P C’s new album (back once again with Claudio Mattone’s Easy Records) and hold, both together and individually, numerous courses for vocal music and arrangement. The most important of these are VOCALAB, a yearly course in A Cappella music, which Diego holds at the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome, and the Salerno University Choir, of which Ciro is conductor.
