Je suis Papa!
I have five sons;
let's just start with that.
Five sons!
Lots of work
raising these five, but well worth it, and I love them all, a lot.
They are
all five completely different, each his own man, and yet all close with each
other as well.
Four of the five are married, only the youngest, Jean
Jacques, is not, yet.
I am also lucky to have wonderful daughter-in-laws, also each
very different.
And I have 2 beautiful granddaughters, and a grandson on
the way.
I am married to my beautiful wife Alicia, and everyday I realize again how lucky I am to have her.
She takes care of me in more ways then one, and all my sons love her as well.
I have had a varied life, having been born in Haiti, grown up speaking French, then adding English, German, Italian
and Spanish.
I left Haiti and came to the US and joined the Air Force when I was eighteen because Haiti frankly held no future for me.
Today
my German and Italian are a bit rusty.
OK, my German is very rusty. But I don't really need it anymore now that I am no longer in the Air Force serving in Europe. That ended almost fifty years ago.
Professionally I have been in or around the printing business my whole life.
I live in Los Angeles, but love France.
When I was young and in the
Air Force I spent a lot of time there. My first wife is French. We had an import business from France and Belgium, which meant I was able to travel there often.
All my boys speak French, though
in varying degrees....
I also love music, and if you give me enough of an incentive I will sing you a classic old song, maybe even in French.
When I was young I use to
sing on the radio, back when they had live broadcasts.
I have just returned from some time in France, most of my sons and their wives and one
of my granddaughters came.
For me this was a dream come true!
We all stayed in a big
villa in Provence, and we had a great time!
Alas it was just not long enough and I'm hoping to go back soon.
Maybe my sons will read this and buy a house there and I could stay a lot longer. Hint hint hint!!
One of my favorite things is when we gather together as a family.
We try to do this as often as we can. I love it best around a meal, because we all like to
eat well, and I also enjoy a good bottle of French wine.
From time to time we gather at the Petanque courts in Rancho Park.
We play
we eat paté,
fromage and soucison,
we drink French wine or Pastis, and have a
good time.
I love doing this.
I play a mean game of Petanque and will challenge any of you!
I am truly enjoying my life-long love affair with LIFE!
