About Me

Gambier was born in São Paulo city, where he still lives. Autodidactic, he started singing and playing the guitar when he was 15. As a professional musician, he performed for the first time, recording for the Berverly label, he took part in it playing the guitar, percussion and also making vocals. In the beginning of the 70's, he worked as a back vocal and solo in cover recordings. He was a designer and used to do the disc covers. He was also a photographer and a lay-out-man. Besides he used to play in his musical group called "Prowclas" performing in night clubs and balls around the city on Saturdays. Then, in 1972, he was invited to be a musical producer for small labels "Cartaz Discos and Crazy Records". In 1975 he was contracted by Copacabana Discos and, as a musical producer, he made hundreds of musical recordings during his 15 years there. His last production for Copacabana Disco was for the country pair of singers "Zezé de Camargo and Luciano, a very successful disc, especially because of the song:" É o Amor" (It's Love). It was launched in 1991 for Sony Music. As a musician and independent producer, he has worked for the majority of music factories in the phonographic Brazilian market and also for some music factories in the international market. Along his career, he has produced more than 120 artists, from different musical genres, besides a dozen instrumental records. His biggest professional success was the creation, production and adaptation of "cantigas de roda" (songs for kids) for a record called Baby, launched in 1978 by Copacabana Disc Factory. To this disc he gave the fiction name of "As melindrosas". They were four teenagers that he contracted and prepared months after when the record had already 600.000 copies sold and was a big success all over Brazil. The first Baby record was inspired for the childlike market all over the world and was launched in Portuguese in many counties and got reports in magazines such as Cashbox and Billboard and in Brazil sold 4 millions copies in two years. Today this record belongs to EMI Music. He is also the creator of the children's characters Kiko & Kika, a couple of singing frogs which were big success at the end of the 80's with 600.000 sold copies of Vol.1 and Vol. 2. He is a composer and has also made versions of songs and has 156 signed contracts with publishing such as Peermusic, Sony, Warner Chappell, Comep, BMG, among others. His first international experience was in Los Angeles, US in the beginner of the 80's in Lion Recording, in Newport Beach where he worked for the label Charger Records and he also did the mixing of the Record Baby vol.2 He is a producer and he also works as an artistic and technical assessor in every step of a musical project. Besides Brazil, he worked in USA, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Spain, Austria and Venezuela. At the moment he works in special projects of Brazilian Popular Music, producing CDs, DVDs and shows.
