About Me

We are the Music Technology Department at South Kent College in Folkestone. We run one year First Diploma and two year National Diploma courses in Music Technology. The three main areas of study are: Recording Studio practices including recording and mixdown techniques; Sequencing (making music with computers) and various music theory subjects such as Music Industry, Popular Music, etc.On this site you will find examples of students work. Please check back every now and then to hear new tunes that have been created by our students.
The Music Tech ND Yr2 students have just completed the mixdowns and mastering for their Final Major Project. They have spent the past couple of months recording, mixing and mastering an awesome young female vocalist from Folkestone called Donna who does regular gigs around the local area, and also the amazing 40 000 piece band (slight exageration!) The Latin Funktion (check out myspace.com/thelatinfunktion) who had a very intense two day recording session with us. Oh My Gosh, it totally got a bit warm in there with all those members! Both Donna and The TLF had a great time working with the students, and will soon hear the results of the completed stereo masters. As soon as the tracks are ready, we will post them up for all to hear. Join us!!!
p.s. Below is a Mac. We have got two sequencing rooms now with these beauties, running Reason for MIDI sequencing and Logic for Audio sequencing. Check out the pics of our studio too!
