Paganism is the name that Christian Chruch put to of all religions based on polytheism, normally Mother Earth cults.
One of the most famous of these pagan cults was the Norse Paganism. The followers of this cult were the people of Scandinavia, one of the last pagans in medieval Europe. They believed in a variety of gods that controlled different aspects of the creation. That’s true.
In the middle of the 20th Century, The German National Socialist movement, also know as Nazis, used the Scandinavian Myths as propaganda for its nationalistic ideas. Yes, Scandinavia is not Germany, but the Germans and the Norse people are supposed to have equal roots, and the German gods are very similar to Norse deities.
Hitler assigned Mythological names to different types of vehicles, squadrons and divisions. That’s true.
In the early 90..s, a few of Black Metal Norwegian bands started to mix their national socialist ideas with their patriotism. They started to burn down churches in the name of Paganism to eradicate Christian influence over Scandinavia. And that’s all.
These things have made the popular idea that the paganism is a nazi thing, and that Norse mythology was all about white supremacy, Jewish eradication and nationalism, that’s false.
"Vikings", as those Norse pagans were called, never met the black people of Africa more than casual encounters, or Jewish people. They did never have knowledge about communism. This means that the Norse people didn’t have any racial or political prejudice far than the medieval global thpughts. Probably they considered themselves as a superior race, but that was a common thought in all nations of the medieval age. One interesting thing is that Iceland had the first Republic of the world, right in the medieval age, a political system that didn’t have any similitude to fascisms or totalitarianism regimes. And remember that Russia was founded by Vikings, and it was the cradle of communism... therefore is more reasonable to say that Vikings were the first Communists of the world than to say they were the first Nazis. Other thing to remember is the role of the women in Norse society. We cannot say that Scandinavia was the paradise for women, but the rights and powers of a woman in Norse society were more advanced than the ones in feudalist Europe; and the equal rights between women and men was an ideology that was born principally of leftist ideas. The only thing that made the Vikings a "monstrous" enemy was that their paganism didn’t stop them to steal the gold of the Christian churches, but they only did that because of economic reasons, never because of any kind of anti-Christian ideology. Of course, the pagan religion was normally a religion based in the concept that every place had their own gods; and they simply wanted to conquer England, not to destroy any religion. And finally, the same Vikings decided to become Christians. A decision they made themselves, never imposed. End of the story.
FAQ
This is an antifascism site?
Not exactly. I personally hate fascism, but this is not a call to arms to fight every NS Skinhead that you meet. There area lot of movements about Antifascism over the world, and we respect their fight, but we don't support free violence, and it will be ironic if we talk about break down predjuices untill we support close-minded ideas.
Ok, so that is a site about norse nationalists without NS ideas
You are wrong again, dude. We are an APOLITICAL site. You are a proud norwegian nationalist? ok, that's perfect. You are a Japanese anarchist girl who likes viking metal? great, of course. The only thing that we are is people who likes norse myths and culture without political propaganda.
And for what you fight?
We fight against predjuice. I fight to liberate these myths from it's political chains. I think that's wrong that you can walk around the streets with an Ankh in your neck safety, but if the Ankh was a Mjölnir, it can brings you problems. We fight to make possible that you can have a Viking Metal band out from scandinavia or german, only because you like it. We fight to make the Odal a mystic rune, not a Nazi symbol.
Viking Metal. That's site for bands and musicians?
Again, not exactly. The idea of a Nazi Norse Myths was propulsed by too much Metal bands, and we want fight fire with fire. We want that every band that talks about norse myths (don't care if is Black Metal, Thrash, Punk, Hardcore or Pop) be proud of themselves and spread the word, and silence the voices that judges them like "not pure" bands.
So, who's the enemy?
The predjuice. That's what we want to destroy.
And the methods?
Spread the word. We want that the people with our ideas find in this initative the power to stand proud. Too many people left behind their norse beliefs because the predjuices makes them feeling alone, like the only one without nazi ideas that loves these myths and culture. You are not alone, and we must stand united.
It's all about Asatru?
Again, not exactly. Personally I'm not Asatru, I..m just an atheist. I can find some philosophy on Hamaval, but I don't think that makes me Asatru. Of course, Asatru are welcome.
You are not a nationalist, an asatru or an antifascist. What the hell are you?
Someone that loves the norse culture and myths. Only that.
I've sent you a Private Message in norwegian and I don..t have a response.
Sorry, but I don't sepak norwegian. Yes, the profile says Norway, but the dude that creates this (myself) isn't it. This site is not a personal site (I have my own personal Myspace), it's about an idea. And if you think that's "not pure", you know where's the close button.
A MESSAGE TO THE HATERS:
Don't be a fool. If you don't like what I say, and you think better than me, it's okay, but I'm tired of Private Messages crying about how wrong I am and let no reply. Let's talk, or shut up.Code:
