Singer Karl Henry and guitar player Konrad started to play in Konrad's small basement apartment
in the winter of 2002. Soon drummer Grimsi joined them. Helgi on kontrabass completed the setup
of the band wich would soon be playing the small icelandic bars as Tenderfoot.
Gunnar joined the boys as manager in march 03. in the summer of 2003,
they played with many bands and solo acts who were within a similiar
state of musical feeling. Unplugged and lowkeyd.
In the winter months of 2003 they recorded songs for theyre first album,
named without gravity, 2 of the songs appearing on the collaberate cd Sandcheck.
after about 3 months recording,on and off,
they broke away from the studio contract due to differences about the available studio time offered to them.
Not long after they were headed for a short tour to New York. there they would play 5 concerts,
including legendary Sin-E.
in april 2004 they changed management. Arni Ben, Leaves and former Sugarcubes
manager took the boys to the Leaves studio to continue the recording of the cd.
released in des 2004 by Bad Taste records in Iceland, they soon were offered european release
with One little indian in the UK. early days of january,
Helgi quits the band.
they played the By-larm festival in Norway and went on to film theyre first video.
Shot in London, it was directed by Cris Debney. In february 05 they changed the name
of the band to Without gravity.

Without Gravity (Whose name was previously Tenderfoot), a band from Iceland. Without Gravity are no high concept retro prog-rockers, no metal-gurus, no electronic bleep-n-cuts shyness. What they do is they come and set up their instruments wherever there is space enough and they play as intimately as if they were among old friends. Their music is a sanctuary made from human closeness, the warmth of being together, and big because of its simplicity.
When I first heard Without Gravity's music, I absolutely loved the incredibly beautiful, relaxing sounds with a dreamy, ethereal quality. The singer, Kalli has a Nick Drake Sound to him, but still very unique. And being from the American South, I love the pedal Steel guitar. But after buying all of the music of theirs I could find, I was disappointed to learn that the group broke up and have various solo projects (hopefully more info to come).
