My Interests

Street Flava began on KUHT- Houston Public Television in 1995 and was produced by Jim Uhlig, a highly respected Executive Producer for Gaylord Entertainment, and hosted by Houston’s own DJ extraordinaire Darrell “D. Solo” Harris. After a successful four year run on KUHT where the show grew in quality and production, Street Flava, in 1999, graduated to KHWB-39 and exponentially grew its audience and following. In 2000 and 2001 Street Flava was honored by Houston Press Magazine as the “The best locally produced show in Houston.”Again In 2004, Street Flava, upgraded its home and now resides on KTXH-My20, a Fox owned and operated station. With this new partnership, the show has benefited from a cross-promotional platform that included KRIV Fox 26 News, Myfoxhouston.com in addition to KTXH promotional support. Street Flava has now grown to its highest ratings ever and has been one of the the highest rated weekend late fringe programs in the Houston DMA and the highest rated locally produced weekend late fringe program in the Houston TV market. Street Flava is part of the reason why Houston has become the rap capital of the world! After twelve consecutive years of airing in the Houston TV Market, Street Flava’s “generational following” has dubbed the show “The Soul of the South” replacing Soul Train and Apollo Theatre as the show that launches thousands of stars.
